THE CONQUERORS OF THE RUMP of the Roman empire, the Turks have declared war on the search outfit Google.

The horse warriors who used a huge cannon to flatten the walls of Constantinople before changing its name to Istanbul have sent their debt collectors around to the mighty Google empire.

Turkey thinks that Google owes it $47 million for supposedly dodging the country's income tax system even though its European headquarters office is in the Celtic nation of Ireland.

Turkish media have been telling the world plus dog that Google is required to pay national taxes for revenue generated in Turkey because it has a subsidiary there..

Apparently the problem is that Google set up a subsidiary called Google Reklamclk ve Pazarlama Ltd. ti. in Turkey rather than a 'liaison' branch office.

This slip of the pen means that a chunk of Google's revenue will have to be paid to the Turkish government, it claims.

The Turks don't get on very well with Google. The nation has shut down its Youtube operation several times over perceived slights to Turkish national pride. So chances are that the amount of real money Google makes out of the Turks is about 50 cents and half a kebab. µ

If you are earning money from Turkish customers and operating in Turkey than you must pay your taxes. Simple as that.. Google is operating in Turkey as a company. That is why they have to pay their taxes to Turkey (talking about the money they earn within Turkey)

As I said it was only his party's group meeting. TRT stopped broadcasting since Turkish is the only official language of the parliament.

Actually just before that incident PM Erdogan made his TV speech to Public in Kurdish. So I cannot blame Ahmet Turk spoke in Kurdish in his party's group meeting. But if it was in front of the all deputies surely there would be a greater problem.. Ahmet Turk never tried it though..
