When you are a large empire like Turkey (still much larger than Austria-Hungary), some of your regions will be high-tech, while other regions will remain underdeveloped:
Yeah, I'm sure Gayreece has better education than the United States
Let's send our kids to nearby Gayreek universities rather than Harvard, Yale, Columbia, MIT, etc.

Gayreeks are so educated that They are nowhere in science-technology with their "0" engineering capabilities and "0" industrial developments...
Congrat Gayreeks... Keep educate yourself like that.. Human-being is going to need you to save the future of the World with your high intelligence accretions...
1) Corrupting statistics for their own favour (e.g. adding imaginary prostitution revenues to the GDP in order to meet the EMU's deficit restraints, etc.)
2) Transforming huge historic defeats into epic myths of glory (e.g. 300 Spartans destroying 1 million Persians; Constantine XI ascending to Heaven at the Porta Aurea (but one day he will return and send the Turks back to the Red Apple); etc...)

So where were the Griks in Shell European Eco Marathon ? Almost every European country including Turkey participated while Grease was nowhere to be seen.
Griks too educated for Europeans ?
On 12 June 1992, a Greek Mirage F-1C crashed during a dogfight with a Turkish F-16 piloted by Capt. Ilhan Filiz.
On 8 October 1996, a Greek Mirage-2000 piloted by Thanos Grivas shot down a Turkish F-16D with a Magic IR missile.
Just two days after that murder, on 10 October 1996 a Greek Mirage-2000 crashed close to Semadirek island after a dogfight with two Turkish F-16s.
Point of the story is: TUAF saved itself two missiles.
On May 23rd 2006, Two Greek F-16 fighters Scrambeled to intercept two Turkish F-16s that was escorting a Recon aircraft over the southern Aegean, After a short Mock-dogfight the Greek F-16 colided into the Turkish F-16. Turkish Pilot Lieutenant Halil Ibrahim Özdemir Ejected safely while the Greek pilot Lieutenant Konstantinos Kakkavas died instantly.
On December 4th 2007, a Greek F-16C participated in a night exercise in the Sporades archipelago, the pilot Lieutenant Athanasios Batsaras lost orientation thinking he was gaining altitude instead flew his aircraft into the sea. Athanasios Batsaras body was found latter on by a Turkish frigate which responded to the emergency call.
Point of the story is: Greeks don't know how to Fly.
On June 3rd 2003, a Greek F-16 block 30 Piloted by Captain Theodoros Pliatsikas crashed when a Bird was sucked into the air intake causing Engine Failure. Captain Theodoros Pliatsikas however was lucky enough to Eject and survived the incident with minor injury.
On June 4th 2009, a single seater Greek F-16 block 50 crashed in Ioannina after the plane ingested a bird. The pilot managed to eject from the plane with minor injury.
turks follow a filthy religion where education means learning kuran in madrasa. no wonder they are illeterate peasents.

When turkies porkies men have to bow down in prayer 5 times a day and smell the stench of another man's ******* it is only a matter of time before they go crazy. now wonder turkies are called donkies in rest of the world and spit upon.
Ohh hendu please dont flatter your self you're nothing. We rather bow down 5 times a day than worship rats or cows ass. So please move along we dont have time for low life trolls like you we've got better things to talk about. So please look out the window for a second, what you see out there is life... Go get one... instead of trolling in here.
These numbers were compiled by the UN so I'd like the retardo-turks to tell us how we manipulated the numbers.
Silly Turks, do searches at Harvard, Yale, Cambridge, Oxford, MIT etc and see how many Greek students and professors there are. Pretty impressive for our population.
The "southeastern problem" is not just terror, it involves:
1) Education (the Kurds and Arabs still don't send their daughters to school)
2) Land reform (the medieval aghas and ashirets must disappear)
-----------------
your blaming the kurd again right? bahahaha
well given your 105th placing, & ignoring adamant Turkish denials as to the numbers of Kurds in Turkey, then 97.99% of Turks must be Kurds to earn that rank....
^^ Whats harder to believe? Greece ranking higher than US or Turkey is 105th? LOL fail, you guys are as pathetic as i thought, using Wikipedia as a source..
"Greece ranking higher than US or Turkey is 105th?"
"The Education Index is measured by the adult literacy rate (with two-thirds weighting) and the combined primary, secondary, and tertiary gross enrollment ratio (with one-third weighting)."
Plain and simple math...
Those who attended both educational systems (GR&US) know that this is very much true..
Australia is ranked first but Greek schools are much stricter and tougher.
I have studied in both.
Australia does have a very good education system; I find it ridiculous Greece downgrades Australian diplomas though... farcical, but there you have it.
''Whats harder to believe? Greece ranking higher than US or Turkey is 105th? LOL fail, you guys are as pathetic as i thought, using Wikipedia as a source.''
That Mongol doesnt know that Wikipedia is an open source encyclopedia that presents data from other original sources. In this case its the UN you illiterate Turco!!
See, proof Turcos are peasant, illiterate and 3rd world...
In the University of florida their are many Greek student's receiving PHDs in numerous ball busting subjects such as nano Technology and Gentic Micro Biology.
Bullchit list that doesn't mean anything, as the real power doesn't belong to the masses, but the elite.
Greece ranks higher than the US, meaning the average Greek citizen is better educated than the average American citizen? But so what? America is still the superpower of the world because their elite is the best in the world. India ranks 142nd in the world, well below Turkey, but they are a nuclear country with significant space technology as well. One on one, they can pretty much smoke Turkey anytime they want.
Likewise, even though Greece ranks higher than Turkey, Turkey has a much larger technical/industrial base because we have a more productive elite.
So what? This list does not tell who has a better technology or better nuclears or better industrial output.
It tells how educated people are. Just like HDI and GDP per capita, is an index to show the level of development of a country.
That is why, highly ranked countries in this list, are also highly ranked countries in HDI, GDP per capita and quality of life.
Greece or Iceland might not produce cars or aircraft like India or Brazil but they are much more developed and advance because of all of their citizens are educated (not a few), because their people are highly developed (see high HDI).
Turkgay is in the same league as India, meaning that a few people might produce high industrial outut, but what difference does it make when 80% of all Turcos live like pigs? When infant mortality is extremely high, when poverty is massive, and when illiteracy rates are explicit. Thats what makes the difference not if you can produce nukes or cars.
a barbarian WOULD see education through the prism of the grand international pissing contest...
unless, dear corpus, education and the pursuit of wisdom are virtues unto themselves.
i think that the tradition of education is one of the main reasons why greek society is warmer, gentler, more creative, more assertive, democratic, enterprising, and successful than turkish society.

As someone who has attended school in both Greece and the United States, I can say that school in Greece was much more difficult than school in America. The level of difficulty, stress, etc in Greek school was extremely tough.
I breezed through university in the United States as it was easier than lyceum in Greece.

This is particularly true. Greek schools are very tough. The level of taught material especially for Maths, Chemistry, Physics and other applied sciences is similar to 1st or 2nd year of UK universities as far as I can tell. I had already done pretty much of the Maths and Physics I did during the first year in UK university, while I was in Greek high school.
Plus in grammar school the teachers would beat us to a pulp. Either slapped across the face, side burns pulled, ears pulled, or beaten with a stick on the hands.
Once this one kid was lifted off the ground in my 6th grade class by both ears. Teacher put him down on the ground and proceeded to slap him with open palm slap across the face 26 times as hard as he could.
The kid's face turned purple from the slaps...
What's funny is that he couldn't tell him parents because they would kick his azz even more for embarrassing the family name in school.

Well, there goes Rustbeltakis' "our society is gentler" argument. I really doubt that's very good for both the physical and mental advancement of that child, Kalli. But unfortunately many Turkish teachers are also equally challanged in disciplining their students using more rational means. Probably all the Turks here grew up learning in such a "do it right or get beaten up" sort of environment. It's something that both the Greek and Turkish education systems share.
theres a difference between a teacher disciplining a kid and a reporter getting shot or stabbed for describing reality.
we have passionate communists, but even when they set off bombs they tend to be symbolic and carefully designed to avoid injury to fellow citizens. before the recent wave of immigration athens had the safest streets of any european capital. its just a mentality with us, call it civility or fraternity.
