After the Greek participation in the Europe's HELIOS IIB and MUSIS programmes, another Greek participation just surfaced on the mainstream media through a parliamentary vote about the existance of space based SIGNIT /CERES programme that will be launched in 2016.

http://www.strategyreport.gr/?p=12582

Greece is participating in the system design from 2009 along with France and Sweeden!!!

Signals intelligence
Future space-based
intelligence

ELISA will succeed ESSAIM as the next space-based SIGINT demonstrator and will launch as a passenger payload alongside Pleiades 1. It will also comprise four Myriade microsatellites and
will carry ELINT (electronic intelligence)instruments to intercept radar transmissions from space. ELISA will offer a pre-operational capability for at least three years. CNES has co-funded the space component of this demonstrator with DGA, the French defence procurement agency, with which it shares oversight responsibility for the project.

These two demonstrators are part of preparations for the future CERES programme, which will provide a fully operational space-based intelligence capability from 2016.
(Apart France) Sweden and Greece are also involved in the design phase of this project.

Tryfield..

...will Greece have a direct and independent download capability through it's own ground station on Greek soil.. or will the intell be shared through a combined France, Sweden and Greece facility in France?

Dont be stupid gricos; those satellite doesnt not belong to Greece. Having a ground station doesnt make independently acquire images.

And if there is a war, nobody will let to use satellite; you know providing a recce means direct involvemnt of war. And you can be sure that nobody will fight for lazy grico

^^^ ...'there's NO need at all to ruin a perfectly good thread with your baseless and jealous ramblings dr_oz.. and BTW, an independent ground station would mean just that.. INDEPENDENT.. but even if we had our own intell guys embedded on French soil.. i don't think it would make much difference, just that our friends would know our intentions and concerns, that's all..

You are talking invane..

here is the Turkish firm INTASPACETURK:

http://www.spaceturk.com.tr

It has "INDEPENDENT" ground station and providing high-resoultion images to Turkish Armed Forces MIT etc via GeoEye and Ikonos Satellites.

So why do we need Gokturk? Ask a question this question to yourself. So nobody allows their satellites on wartime, you WILL just buy images from French; just we do buy from USA right now

No I'm not "invane" dr_oz, mind you, if i keep reading your ideas and fantasies i will be quick smart..

...so are you saying that Greece invested in a project in order to get intell ONLY during peace time.. so why invest at all.. why not continue to buy from the French and Israeli's and our Russian friends too.. and save the dough?

Do you even read what you write?
