EXCLUSIVE - 60 Blackhawk helicopters free from the U.S. Army to Greece
Exclusive informations of the magazine "Greek Defense & Technology" show how the U.S. government accepted the request of former Army General Staff for 60 free transport helicopter UH-60 Blackhawk. The relative Letter of Request (LoR) submitted under the initiative of the then Chief of General Staff Lieutenant Frankou Frangoulis to explore the potential 2010 free concession equipment from U.S. Army surplus. The policy that is still run by the new military and political leadership of the Greek Ministry of National Defence, as there is no alternative solution to meet operational requirements.
The 60 Blackhawks are for the full replacement of the obsolete "Huey" of the Greek Army, which does not meet modern requirements to transport all the forces on the battlefield. According to publicly available information, the U.S. Army has in service 751 UH-60A Blackhawk, from 948 in 2010. It also has about 967 second-generation UH-60L and receive right now 165 new third generation UH-60M Blackhawks.

Turkey is going to start producing T-70 helicopters with an amazing national contribution. We have exporting rights of helo for 3th countries including 3th World Banana states (Greece as an example) as well.
If You give us Rhodos island, We may produce a few T-70 International version for you. but Even If you don't give, We will invade Rhodos in near future so Choise is yours. I just respect

The T-70 is basically a version of the S70 Blackhawk, with certain indigenous Turkish parts and avionics, which may also include a Turkish mission computer. I have strong reasons to believe that you will screw up the helicopter with your indigenous "improvements", just as you screwed up the UAV Herons.
We will not get "your" chopper, even if you paid us to do so. The safety of our crews is too important.

although Hellenic Defense is allot more a reliable source, lets not count our chickens until they hatch....
i admit 60 black hawks which with a minor overhaul and upgrade will replace the now archaic huey's, is a fantastic deal if it goes through....
do not know why the Turks are so critical, it in the past has been the recipient of allot of NATO second hand equipment....and for Greece right now it is a good stop gap option, to allow it to reign in its budget while still keeping its forces in good shape....

Even to store properly the 500 tanks you are supposed to take is a serious financial burden, not to speak about you need to start them to see their engines running once in a while :P care to make calculations how much JP8 that will gulp? The greeks have received their 60 UH-60 BlackHawks as a bundle.
Sikorsky has confirm that they have been shiped for about some month ago.
They were older and used models but comperable wiht the new age onces.
The bundles should have received nowadays Greece.
Greek defense minister has confirm that the BlackHawk bundle of 60 units has arrived in Athen.
The package was opened directly by the defense minister of greece and they where very happy to say that all of the 60 BlackHawks where in very good condition.
These could be flown by one Pilot but Greece will train minimum 2 for each heli.
This will be used for fearing greek enemies!
But the they told that the size where not like that which they have expected.
The package contains 60 BlackHawks models in the size of 1:50 with remote controlles and the have aske US government and Sikorsky how they could put weaponery on that helis?
Answer was that they should first learn how to fly the model helis.
And after this they would receive some beans as munition for this helis.
