I don't know the cost of the CIRIT however like with everything the cost per unit depends also on the production rate. Till now the missile was produced in lowrate but once the T-129's come into action and the landforces going to order them en masse the unit price will go steeply down.

Cirit is a very good and versatile anti-personnel weapon. The engineers who developed this really understand how a helicopter pilot engages targets. Future upgrades should focus on improving range and accuracy while reducing costs.

I would say versions this weapon should be widely integrated into many platforms. The light helicopter that we're planning to develop should also be able to fire a few of these.

We have the AKP and SSM to thank for these developments. 30 years ago most of our weapons were used second-hand US equipment.

My only concern is how much of the guidance system is produced locally? Do we import some basic electronic components from China to produce the Cirit? The US military is having real problems with Chinese electronics, the US found that a lot of US imported chips contain spyware. A lot of the basic electronics in US military hardware is China-imported.

A company called "Goodrich Corporation" makes the sensors.I think it is an American company.

The company says that it received the first orders from roketsan.

^^ It ain't like that. They are buying foreign to reduce the costs of Initial production to meet demands of SSM. After they'll go serial probably a more local subsystem will be selected.

it is beyond me how you can compare costs of hellfire and cirit

if anything, compare cirit to those guided ffar rockets (apkws) because hellfire is dedicated ANTI TANK missile, bigger than those

It is very normal to compare the prices of Hellfire and Cirit missiles, because the high price of the Hellfire is the main motive of the design and development of 2.75" laser guided missiles like APKWS, DAGR, Talon and Cirit. Only Cirit is an exception with being an all-new design rather than a guidance kit applied to a standard 2.75" rocket. Such missiles are developed to spare Hellfires for bigger / more valuable, pinpoint targets and also decrease expenditure.

I would like to see Cirit being developed with an IIR sensor, would be one hell of a missile for naval targets..

My only concern is how much of the guidance system is produced locally?

Because there is almost no Microcontroller technology in Turkey, we usually outsource the brains of our "indigenous" systems.

TUBITAK tries to change this thing.

First, we need to build indigenous brains for our systems. Then we must focus on the systems.
