What happened to them? Found yet or not?
Captured or not ?

The information is contradictory... In some sites i checked they were saying they still look for them.
Can you imagine those pilots caught by the Syrians and paraded around the streets of Damascus ? LOL

Another possibility is, the pilots might have been killed instantly by shrapnel since it is assumed that the a/c was shot down by Anti Aircraft Artillery.

I, too, am hearing alot of conflicting reports. First it was that Turkish SAR had rescued them. Then that Turkish SAR were actually still looking for them and with the Syrians also helping. Now there are rumours that they have been rescued but are supposedly in Syrian custody.

Any updates on this in the Turkish media?

The crew probably didnt make it. I find hard to believe that Syria captured them and didnt notify anyone. After all they are not in war with Turkey.

They are still missing. S&R continues in syrian territorial waters. this confirms our fighter was violating their airspace.

If the crew didnt survive, this would be a devestating human cost for the 173 filo within a year. Seven months ago another RF-4E of the same filo crashed in Konya and the crew perished.

According to Greek reliable blog, it was shot by S-5 Gammon. These are stationed in the coast so if they score a hit it is unprobable that crew survived as its warhead is 217kg, enough to tear apart a small plane.

It looks that TuAF has a long way to go until it can claim that has even some of the capabilities IAF have regarding EW warfare.

The pilots were killed. They have GPS devices, they have flares, they should have been found within a few hours.
If they were hit by a SAM, they cannot have survived. The aircraft was blown up in pieces.

The other mitigating factor was the fact that the aircraft were low flying.
it means less reaction time to decide to eject and even if they take the decision to eject its a low level bailout involving morte risks.
i still think they were taken out by AAA,gammons are predomimamtely med-high altitude sams and take a bit of time to acquire the target and launch,AAA are much quicker to respond, but time will tell.
any confirmation on the second F4?

The pilots are probably dead if they haven't found them yet. So this week the Turkos suffered 8 soldiers KIA and most likely 2 pilots KIA. You guys should stick with doner shops. War is not for you...
