The guys you posted simply have a tan. Does having a tan make you Semitic? I'm talking about Markoulis. Looking at her photograph I would guess she is Lebanese, Israeli, or Egyptian.

All right, all right. She is not exactly Cindy Crawford!
Granted, she is uglier than Madeleine Albright. (For those who remember).
However, she is very smart and she does her job very well. She secured support of all great powers on the gas issue. Diplomacy is not a beauty contest.
But if the Turks continue this, I will start posting pictures of Tansu Ciller with a swimming suit! Turks, you have been warned!

Sorry but she is anything but smart. I listened to one of her recent interviews. She thinks (that is her government policy) that by finding large gas resources, the GCs will force Turkey to negotiate a deal over Cyprus and ultimately make our troops leave the island (together with the settlers from mainland). she is delusional just like the rest of her government. The GCs used to think they can force Turkey to make a deal by their EU membership (and their opposition to Turkey's membership) now that the EU delusion is over they are pinning their hopes on natural gas which is yet to be found.
But if the Turks continue this, I will start posting pictures of Tansu Ciller with a swimming suit!

Supposed that Cyprus has big natural gas reserves and even Israel allowed them to get profit. Who do you think they're gonna sell? Norway and Russia are the two gas suppliers of Europe. You need your red-flagged neighbours again.

when you have oil, you have a liecence to print money.
your sugestion that we cant sell the oil is misplaced.as a member of the eu we would have preferential conditions to sell within the eu market.secondly as a commodity there is always a demand.thirdly if we struggled to sell then drop the price by $5 a barrel and demand would do the rest.being energy independant means money and foreign exchange staying in the country and positively affecting the balance of payment.there are many benefits.
cyprus has said all along that profits would be used for the benefit of ALL cyprios ,cyprus would also be prepared to be generous to not only greece but also turkey that turkey has more to gain by being collaborative than confrontational.
As regards norway and russia they have both signaled a strong interest in participating in the cypriot hydrocarbons.both know that this resource is not finite and their resources have an expirey date.
cyprus's position is such that we can easily supply 3 continents.

Transportation of gas from the North Atlantic would be cheaper than Cyprus and they will always prefer Norway with regard to prosperity of the superior Germanic race(!)
Limited existence of oil and gas is still a theory as well as the fact of renewability. Mind you Turkey is 5rd biggest market and 3rd biggest trade surplus provider of Russia. Asian market is blocked by OPEC countries for Cyprus and Turkey is needed for the European market. Just demand of Turkey would be a great portion.
Actually no one in Turkey minds about the oil drilling in South Cyprus. Tayyip just moves in accordance with directions of Washington DC.

Did Washington DC tell Tayip to break up with Israel too?
The Turkish wishful thinking is vastly amusing. "There is not enough gas, it is too far away from the potential clients, there is no market for it, Jews will get all the profit..............."
Soviet officer Morrice Childs (Moishe Chilovsky) was a double agent, and the man of Americans inside Kremlin for many years. In a memo to FBI he had given a perfect description of the senile Soviet leaders. I will repeat what he said, because it describes well the Turks of this forum too:
"They live in a world of dangerous illusions. They are thinking according to their political prejudices and not according to facts. They are victims of their own lies and propaganda."

I pity these Yunans really. They can never fight their own wars and always looking for others (Russia, EU, Israel.....) to come and do the work for them. What can you expect from a nation, whose very nation was founded by others (Britain, France, Russia).

Beware Turk. Next time the Britons may not be around to save you from your enemies, as they did in 1833,1878, 1913 etc.
Every country choses its alliances in war and peace. It is not our fault if you picked the wrong allies in 1824 (Egyptian Arabs) or in 1914 (Germans).

Also while Turks were saving thousands of Europeans Jews from the Nazis, the Yunans were happily helping the Nazis to clean up Selanik from its Jewish population (the population which was brought to that city by Ottomans who saved them from the Spanish inquisition). The Jews will never forget these!

I think our choice makes all the sense of the world, and Turkey will discover it the hard way.
I am not aware of any massacre of Greek Cypriots by the Jews in the Antiquity. I am not aware of any Greek-jewish conflict since the Maccabean wars (2nd century AD). And I believe I know history well.
Some of us survived the Turkish rule. Many others did not.
Sorry but we have no good memories of the Ottoman Empire. Neither do the Romanians, the Hungarians, the Serbs, the Bulgarians, the Armenians. Neither do the Arabs, who are Muslims by the way.

Toros_2000:
Philistines are probably an imaginary nation of the Bible. If they ever existed they were Phoenicians.
The main narration for the Jewish rebellion of 116 AD in Cyprus comes from Dion Cassius, and it looks quite prejudiced, as most Roman sources on the Jews. Here is a sample:
" The Jews killed both Romans and Greeks, ate their fleshes, made ornaments with their intestines, made clothes with their skins....." etc, etc
The Jews started a big anti-Roman rebellion in Cyprus, that is certain. But I tend not to trust Dion Cassius on this. Archeological findings do not support his account.
The Greek-Jewish relations is a very complex issue for another thread. The 2 nations did not like each other, but there are more cultural interactions than they are willing to admit.

Given the hellenic nation is more than just cyprus ,you only occupy a small percentage.
dont buy to much into your domestic propaganda that we are intimidated by turkey, you've had 38 years to achieve your aims in cyprus but have failed to ratify your demands thus i dont think your intimidation is working. you said sign here, we said LOOOL.you said dont join the eu, we said up yours!. you said dont drill for oil and we said, You angry bro?lol
as for punishment it pales into insignifigance compared to your internal ethnic woes and internal politics.

There is a joke in the Greek web. After meeting Erato, Israeli Prime Minister B. Netanyahu was so shocked that he said: "There is no way Aphrodite (Venus) may have been born in Cyprus!"
Erato is 63 years old. She is not exactly eligible for the Miss Cyprus beauty contest, but she did her job well. She secured the support of all the great powers on the Cypriot gas drilling, and she inflicted a painful diplomatic defeat on the Turks, which will have strategic consequences in the long term. This is why the Turks hate her so badly.
In their eyes Erato is a bad ugly witch who has hypnotized the great powers with her magic tricks, so that they do whatever she likes!
I am told that she is no Turk sympathizer, and she follows a tough, defiant line towards Turkey.
Well done Erato, keep up the good work!
