Very good news indeed. A problem free Azerbaijan-Armenia will benefit both sides.

Where in that statement do you see "Azerbaijan agress to airline communications between Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh"?

No it doesn't and it will never happen, the airport was supposed to open for over a year now, and still nothing, and will never happen.

@ Qaradag,

A problem free Armenia and Azerbaijan would definitely help bring peace in the greater Caucasus. Good news indeed.

It doesn't if you actually read the original statement.

Not to mention that everyone in government of Azerbaijan are fed up with OSCE and they told it straight to their faces in Baku.

This is the statement and I don't see anything like that here.

Morover, when they were in Baku, foreign ministry reminded how impotent they are.

"Regarding reports of the planned opening of an airport in Nagorno-Karabakh, the Co-Chairs received renewed assurances from the sides that they will reject any threat or use of force against civil aircraft, pursue the matter through diplomatic steps, and refrain from politicizing the issue. The Co-Chairs reaffirmed that operation of this airport cannot be used to support any claim of a change in the status of Nagorno-Karabakh, and urged the sides to act in accordance with international law and consistent with current practice for flights over their territory."

Essentially, Azerbaijan does not shoot down planes and lets them fly, and Armenia does not use the airport as some kind of "evidence" that Karabakh has international recognition.

Not really. Who would shoot down a civilian plane? Did you except them to say that they are going to shoot down civilian planes? The thing is, nothing will fly there.

Like said, it was supposed to be operating already by may 2011, yet nothing has and nothing will happen.

First of all, no one can except that civilian planes would be actually shot down, the statement has rather a different purpose and seems like Armenian side have got it by the looks of it (my second sentence above).

Radio Free Europe is not an Armenian source, Qaradag. Civilian planes will fly over Karabagh.

Also there is obviously a thaw going on between Armenian and Azeri relations. Regardless of the border clashes.
