Police forces attacked Taksim Gezi Park protesters at dawn with tear gas and violence for a second consecutive day this morning in a new attempt to disperse crowds protesting the planned construction of a new mall.

According to the Istanbul Chamber of Medicine, seven people have been seriously injured. Six people are suffering from serious head trauma, while a teachers leg has been broken.

Protesters have been staging an Occupy Gezi Park since May 26 to prevent the demolition of the park, and police forces continued efforts to end the protest, conducting a dawn raid similar to the one conducted on May 30.

Protesters had to escape to nearby streets to shelter from the tear gas. A wall that protesters attempted to climb over collapsed, leaving a number of people badly injured.

According to social media reports, police continued to pursue protesters in various directions after their attack on the demonstrators.

MP's tweets cause row

Meanwhile, ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) Istanbul deputy irin Ünal mocked the protesters on his Twitter account, supporting the polices heavy-handed use of gas. Obviously there are some people in need of gas, Ünal posted.

If you leave there [Taksim Square] I hope you will have a good day, the system needs to be obeyed, he also tweeted. His tweets drew an intense reaction from other social media users.

I am really curious on who is giving the orders to police to be so cruel.

Meanwhile the same police is also helping the wounded.

AKP has already used it's "Genclik Kollari" Youth Gang in some of the previous events.

We are fast seeing a "Hitler Jugend" type of a formation, like "Tayyip Jugend" units. Rather than involving police, they will start involving their religious zealots to deal with these people.

The problem with the protest are those who protest are fringe Bull S*** leftist groups, B Grade movie actors, etc. No real people are involved.

The sleeping masses sleep.

What i dont understand is that the mayor of istanbul clearly said that no avm(shopping center) will be built in gezi park, but shortly after, the prime minister said that the residans or avm(shopping center) can be built on this area.i think that sparked the fire.I think people are fed up with shopping centesr and all these concrete buildings.
Besides, they should exchange opinions with local people and businesses before making a decision on these projects.that works like that in the west??right?

AKP is continuing to dynamite fault lines in society.

Appeasement of PKK and Kurds

Suppression of nationalism, arresting people for having Turkish flags. Banning celebration of Republic day etc.

Restrictions to every day life, alcohol bans, news blackouts etc.

Naming 3rd bridge Yavuz Sultan Selim while it is commonly known Alevi people view him as a butcher.

Supporting AQ and running into Syria mess that we cant get out of now.

Of course masses are sleeping, but damage is being done.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The government is considering to give the security of universities to the police. For now,the security is provided by private security and the rector can invite the police inside the campus if he wishes.
in the past there were police forces in universities.why do they want to go back?i know those days, during 80s and 90s in Turkish universities were not nice.the existence of police didnt help reduce the violence at all.so i dont get it?

i hope the government will leave universities as they are.the university rector can always call police when he needs.

This is not a simple anti-mall or greenpeace issue. People are watching violent police videos and pictures from internet and rage. Day by day we see gas ammunitions exploding on some protesters head, people are being arrested for protesting akpians and their so called wise people who are trying to divide the country. We witnessed the balyoz/ergenekon protests. And last years republic day... On the other hand terrorists can do what ever they want at the other side of the country.

This can not continue forever.

***AKP is continuing to dynamite fault lines in society***

What is perfectly clear outside of Turkey is perhaps concealed within Turkey. In other words, AKP wants to formulate a new turkish identity based solely on Sunni Islam. A plan that encompasses Kurds, Arabs and only Sunni Turks. The rest (Kemalists, Shiite, Alevi, etc.) have no place in AKP's future Turkey. The inflow of Saudi capital in Turkey supports this as well. AKP and its projects are financed by Saudi Sunni fundamentalists.

Meanwhile some posters are talking of empire building! Yeah police get heavy handed in many countries so best not to get too carried away, but IMO the Turkish people should be dealing with internal threats - including factions of their own government - before looking at expansion.

Ozgur Davut I can not understand what you want to say?Do you really believe that akahpe will be weakened when people trow stones and molotovs to our own police and armed soldiers? Are a leftist retard?

The only ones who trow molotov and stone to security foreces are anarchists and terrorist supporters who seek chaos in order to establish a marxist dictatorship! If you do not like akahpe or remorse of voting those gays(like me!) then do not vote for them in next elections and fvck them all in polls! That will beat up RTEs a$$ more than anything! If you blow up his presidency dreams rest will come.Like Viranlik said day by day akahpe is melting.

The problem is media is controlled by them so opposition has not ability to bring them dow in any Public Talk like USA candidates do before elections. If Osman Pamukoglu goes to ring with akahpe,he will surely smash them to the ground himself!

The deep state gives a strong message to Akp:
'We are still here, not dead'.
All Commies are in the streets, like Athens last year.

Leftists are a lot better organized than any other group in Turkey.
Neither Akp, nor Mhp can't even approach their level of organization; they are pretty much disorganized, individualist and sheep-like.
While Leftists support each other, organize themselves very quickly and when they strike they are efficient. Beside, they are better educated and make a better use of technology.

Whats confusing me about all of this, is that we know the media is under akp control. So why are they going to great lengths to show this all over the media in Turkey?

Obviously they are trying to incite something as a means to enforce something?

We have seen these riots across europe before. In england it occurred and it was used as means for the government to bring in new laws taking more power from the people. Yet the status quo remained.

We saw this in france and germany not so long ago and the same outcome occurred.

I'm guessing this is the same situation for Turkey.

More false hope and illusions that will be forgotten about come next week.

Thnx Musti for that link to occupyGezi's tumblr.
I'll use it for a post tomorrow on my blog.

I find the habit of Western goyernments ( Turkey included as European/NATO )
to treats all street disturbances, past a certain level of participants, as crowd control
no matter who, why or how is implicated, thus denying the People's right to express
itself/themselves on the Nation's public fora in respect of what could be termed a
"simple" use of the First Amendment in the US, how shall I ay? Unsavory, to say the least.

I'll make a link to past events in Seattle, Québec City, Davos and the whole set of Indignados,
including Occupy Wall Street and Pepper Cop the happy sprayer.

Police is a job for lucid comprehensive with minimal communications skills at the very worst but way better ideally people.
Crowd control is a brutal dumb job. They should not be mixed whenever it can be avoided and so on.
Which in turn impacts which of the two should be used and how and when.

Keep Pitchforks in mind and I'll come give the link to it within 16 hours!

Good day all, Tay.

Even though i do not support the AKP here, i hope hat everyone who is involved here will get severe consequences. My nation is a democracy that votes its government and not by destroying property. AKP votes will reach 70% thanks to these biggots!

guys this is something very big, tomorrow will not be the same.

While I do believe that AKP is getting more and more megalomaniac, you will see that absolutely nothing will come out of this.  Nothing will change. Some of you are buying too much into these bs facebook stories about deaths blah blah. Most probably they will back down and that's it. You can't topple the gov't with a few riots here and there. I'm afraid you will be left disappointed.

No, they are mostly anarchists, who had been waiting for a golden chance to destroy people's property. Most just do it for fun, probably clueless about politics. Police should fvck them harder. If you don't like AKP, simply convince other people not to vote for them. I do not support fcvktards trying to put the country into chaos, supporting the country's enemies etc. just because they do not like the government.

Park Bahane Eylem Sahane,

I know some of the protesters who are organizing it. And this is everthing but about the park. Just an excuse to riot. They should all be wipped for destroying the streets and the damage they've done. They know very well that if they would organize an legal protest against the goverment nobody would show up. Just because you're against something doesn't give you the right to act illegal.

AKP does not know how to rule a country. They are so amateurish.

Summer tourism season is about to start and they have fvcked the image of Istanbul and Turkey with this unnecessary police brutality.

We are also paying lots of money to import tear and pepper gas from USA. Wasting money on tear gas is not the way to solve problems.

I wouldn't call this a revolt but I wouldn't call it a simple riot either.

It started as a riot to protect trees but turned into a bigger thing because a lot of people are fed up with AKP acting like a maniac because this is what AKP looks like for many people:

[linked image]

"I will build a shopping center in the middle of Taksim square, if you have a problem fvck you!"

"I am banning sale of alcohol between 10 pm and 6 pm, people that enjoy drinking, fvck them!"

"I will build a 3rd bridge and call it Yavuz, Alevis have a problem, fvck them!"

"I will make deals with PKK, nationalists have a problem, fvck them!"

"I will support FSA, anyone have a problem, fvck them!"

"I will ban abortion, women have a problem, fvck them!"

"I will decide how THY personnel will dress, have a problem, fvck you!"

"I will change the education system to 4+4+4, families have a problem, fvck them!"

"Civilians are protesting me in Reyhanli? I will ban the media, fvck them!"

and the list goes on..

So many different subjects and problems, foreign and internal, that AKP is bringing to attention all at the same time and not being able to deal with them properly.

AKP is actually creating problems for itself. Instead of creating unity among the people AKP is constantly provocating with unnecessary subjects and causing division among Turkish society.

If AKP embraced all parts of Turkish society instead of acting like an idiot they would win all elections with %80 of votes and Turkey would grow even stronger.

This is not the way to do it.

(By the way guys please don't post misinformed or fake pictures and news in here to stir things up even more. The aim of the protests should be to force AKP to correct its wrong actions, not to create chaos and anarchy in the country.)

@beryoza

Stop embarrassing yourself, your own f*cking link tells you who won the 1932 election.

The 1932 German presidential elections were held on 13 March (first round) and 10 April (second round run-off).[1] They were the second and final direct elections to the office of President of the Reich (Reichspräsident), Germany's head of state under the Weimar Republic. The incumbent President, Paul von Hindenburg, first elected in 1925, was re-elected to a second seven-year term of office. His major opponent in the election was Adolf Hitler of the National Socialist German Workers Party (NSDAP).

Hitler came to power through backroom deals.

So besides packing up and going home, what should the police have done after repeatedly requesting them to leave peacefully?

Also besides joining the protests, going to the parliament and shutting down AKP and hanging Erdogan I mean.

The people have for months peacefully protested the shopping mall to no avail. Government doesn't want to see or listen. So then what is the only other option you have? To sit near the area's that are to be demolished and protest. What do you think these people are, sheep?

"Hindenburg. Not Hitler.

This is OT and i don`t want to do any pro-AKP dog like you the favor to derail this thread.

Still:

"The absence of an effective government prompted two influential politicians, Franz von Papen and Alfred Hugenberg, along with several other industrialists and businessmen, to write a letter to von Hindenburg. The signers urged Hindenburg to appoint Hitler as leader of a government "independent from parliamentary parties", which could turn into a movement that would "enrapture millions of people".[140][141]"

"Hindenburg reluctantly agreed to appoint Hitler as chancellor after two further parliamentary electionsin July and November 1932had not resulted in the formation of a majority government."

So indeed even under the circumstances Hitler was a democratically elected leader...

Answer the f*cking question. You're the police, you've repeatedly asked the protestors to leave peacefully, they're refusing. On top of that they're charging your barricade.

What do you do? What do you do motherf*cker?

In all fairness to the Islamists.. the protests are a direct reaction to demolishing a park and some 'sharia lite' regulations like the alcohol taxes, pretty silly and frivolous if you ask me.. considering the fractures in Turkish society that this has caused..

Some people think winning an election means a government can do everything it wants.

Democracy is not about going to vote once every 5 years and then accept and bend over for whatever the government gives to you.

Peaceful protest, free media, free judiciary, freedom of religion and freedom from religion, social rights etc they are all part of it. No one should be injured and killed because of taking part in a protest.

Many AKP supporters have a very skewed idea about what democracy entails.

Hitler came to power with elections too.

At the moment there is no seperation of powers, no checks for governments power so this is what is happening.

Well said Kamilreis.AKAHAPE and gay-rte do not care about people, not country nor ISLAM,only themselves.Taking votes of 50 percent made them mad! They see themselves as superhuman while rest of ordinary people as sub-human.
For my opinion as a citizen live in Istanbul;opening a tunnel which will road under Taksim square war right but building another huge avm was totaly wrong! The traffic is already terrible and too many trees have been cut during 10 years in historical sites of Istanbul.Only trees left in Mecidiyeköy is cemetery of armenians now!The rest have been cut and big towers destroyed the image of Istanbul which can be see through bridges. All those projects which causes more traffic are bunch of rant fantasies instead of planned city programs. We saw that during 10 years and this Kentsel Dönüsüm is totaly another rant of Istanbul nothing more!If IBB- Istanbul Municipality can not program the current new built sites in Istanbul how can they correct the previous ones!
E5 and E6 roads are dead in the morning and afternoon! And IBB still gives licence to built more and more side of those roads!I live in Basaksehir with Canislupus and our traffic fvck us too bad!If you want to see how the situation is fvcked then take a look at those Google earth maps please.

http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=tr&msa=0

Do not forget to zoom and see industry sites are near by near with housings.

One more thing do not consider Nirvana-gay blue as serious. That gay is another pro-akahpe boy lover and nowhere to be seen when we discuss Oslo treason and akp-pkk agreement. Now that animal comments as leftis-communist-bla bla bla.A typical akahpe boy lover who closes its eyes when akahpe masters fvcked them from behind!

Okay, Sheogorath.. political dynamics and undercurrents i can understand BUT having the pretext of 'developing a park' tear the country apart, like all you Turks have suggested, as a possibility, is ludicrous.. especially since Turkey has paid such a critical role in the 'Arab Spring' revolts removing REAL dictators and strongmen that held back their countries and NOT like the AKP that did good to Turkey.. if Turkey is so precarious as a united nation that the redevelopment of a park can destroy Turkey then what chance do you guys have of staying united..

Why are those Kemalists protesting? Because Tayip wants to build a commerce centre on a park?

We all know who is behind this: the die-hard Kemalist officers of the Army. They want to implement a variant of the Balyoz plan, so they are trying to incite riots in order to justify a coup to topple Tayip.

However,Tayip is prepared. He commands the loyalty of the Jandarma, the Police and the MIT. Above all, he still has broad popular support, and he will not go down as Menderes. Quite the opposite.

I wish Kemalists the best of luck. Because if they fail again, Stalin's purges of the 1930s will pale compared to what Tayip will do to them.
