For some reason I always thought the 'alley' was 'downstate' (i.e. below Chicago), but (m)

I never really read up on it since I was in PA and GA for most of my life.

We did have a warning 2 weekends ago and I found out that when we have a warning, Jason has to report to the firehouse for severe weather duty!!! So me and the kids get to stay home alone - yippeee (NOT). I hadn't heard tornado sirens since I was a kid (as in like age 3 or 4) living downstate, can't say I've missed them.

Thanks for checking on us Lisa!!!

We are fine, although there was a tornado warning NW of here...m

that had me nervous until I found out the front was moving northeast...

What am I saying? I was still nervous. Tornado watches freak me out, and have ever since I was 9 and there was a tornado watch in Mass., where they almost never get tornadoes (but when they do they are doozies, like the ones that went through the center of the state in '39 and on June 9, 1953 (I was born on the 15th ann of that one!!),...

The first one lifted my grandmother's roof off the house and deposited it across the street, and the second one was suspected to have been caused by a nuclear test in NM, I think, after which there was a rash of tornadoes across the country... I'm not kidding!!)

Huh! Evidently New England has a Tornado Alley!

All I can say is, Thank G-d for the Weather Channel!! If I hear sirens and don't know what's going on, I have the shakes for hours...

Not in those states but spent a lot of Sun. night in my closet due to warnings(m)

there was some wind damage, downed trees etc but nothing to our area. Power was knocked out though and I was scared. The kids all slept in my room that night. We usually have that kind of weather earlier (Easter time) or later (Thanksgiving time) here in the Memphis area but....the storm didn't read the instruction manual. LOL

I rarely ever hear of a tornado here in Aus. We get the odd cyclone up in the northern States but that's about it!

Hope all of you are safe
