One of the best damn marvel cartoons ever made, was the excelent (and very underated) 2nd season of the 90's FF cartoon. If you're a fan of the Lee/Kirby and JB run's on the FF, then you'll love this animated seies. The 2nd season of the 90's FF cartoon (unlike the horrible 1st season) looked better, had better writing, and was very faithful to the FF comic. Heck, the aniators (like the aniators on the 90's x-men cartoon's Dark Phoenix Saga) even drew scenes and characters exactly like JB did. Check out the FF's costumes, the Psycho Man/Malice episode, and the Terax/Nova/Galactus episode for proof that they literally adapted JB's stories (in both art and story). They also did a faithful adaption of the Inhumans saga and the Invincible Man story (and many other classic Lee/Kirby stories)
the problem was, the first season sucked donkey wang and everyone left including me. Then my retailer mentioned the second season was different and better and I watched and lo and behold it was. John Buscema was doing character layouts for the second season for pete's sake! A shame it'll never come out on DVD since they started with the first couple episodes from the first season and of course they didn't sell so they killed any possible future tapes/DVD's. I actually paid to get my tapes of the show transferred onto DVD. It was expensive and I usually don't do that but this was a rare exception and I transferred those tapes right after the ones of my kids! Wonderful tributes to Stan, Jack and John in that season. -Rick

I did'nt know John Buscema did the character layouts for the 2nd season. WOW, the things you learn on these boards.
I'm also thinking about transferring my FF episodes to DVD. Btw, the first episode of the 2nd season (the one guest starring Daredevil) is on the Spidr-Man and Daredevil DVD.

I to also tought that the 2nd season of the 90's Iron Man cartoon was great. Like I said to oter people (both on and off the net),the 2nd seasons of both the FF and Iron Man were 2 of the best damn superhero cartoons ever made. I put the 2nd seasons of these 2 shows right up there with X-Men Evolution and all of the Warner Brothers DCU animated series.
Someone needs to post some still shots from these 2 series for those who have'nt seen either of them yet.

Anyone see the Silver Surfer cartoon they did around that time as well? It was fantastic! Very Kirby-esque in design. And they ended the first season on a cliff hanger, and it was apparently never renewed! ARGH!
I have the whole 90s run of the FF on VCD and stopped watching after the first 2 episodes. My wife and I were laughing so hard at how terrible it was, that I knew that the rest couldn't be worth watching. Watching a scene where Reed seemingly turned into Johnny in mid-frame was the kicker for me. His hair changed, and the voice switched from one character to another. I had to stop the DVD player so I could breath again.
But if you're saying that season 2 was a different story, then I know what I'll be watching this evening.

somewhere in a very large box of VHS tapes i have most (i can't say all) of those FF and Ironman episodes, along with the Silver Surfer and X-Men cartoons.
it has always been my intention to convert then to VCDs. (for those who don't know, VCDs are like DVDs, only cheaper since you can do it yourself. for those who do know, and want to tell me they are inferior to DVDs - phooey - you will only get quality as good as the source material, and if the source material is VHS recording a not-so-hot channel, that's the best it'll ever get)

Trust me Corey, the differences between seasons 1 and 2 ofboth FF and Iron Man were so great that they seemed to be completely different series. The art,the animation, the sound (which was provided by THX),and the stories in the 2nd seasons were all 10 times better then the first seasons. Heck, even the voice acting was better in the 2nd seasons, and most of the voice actors were the same VA's from the first seasons.
