Is this just about the coolest image ever?

I know I have said how stupid it is for Marvel to have nothing but pin-ups on their covers now, but this pin-up (used AS a pin-up) is just too sweet.

I started reading the JB FF run again last week and am once again in amazement of the quality of every aspect of that comic. No pressure or anything, but the feeling of hype that I have for Title Withheld makes me expect another FF-like run. To paraphrase Captain Picard, "Make it so, JB!"

It is a very cool image. I was trying to recall if and where it was used besides that shirt?

Found it! FF Annual #17

I think JB's art for the corner-box during his FF run is the coolest FF pin-up ever. I would love to see that artwork in a larger format. Tremendously dynamic.

And also

It was also the cover to JB's Fantastic Four Visionaries.

I hate the "improved" coloring -- the Torch looks like a big red blob without the sharp black outline.

In some weird dyslexic way, the figures kind of form the number "4" to my eye.

I do like the recoloring of the Thing on the shirt. I had not noticed the coloring error of the portion of Mr. Fantastic behind the Thing until now.

Two things....

February 25 2004, 6:49 PM

1. LONE STAR COMICS! That's in my neck of the woods! (Dallas area).

2. Speaking of JB on a shirt, Mr. Byrne, why don't you open a store on Cafepress.com? Put some of your original art on some stuff. There's gotta be SOME folks on this forum that would buy your wares!

Didn't we get ByrneRotics.com moving by similar statements? Anyway, I'd buy that for a dollar (including shipping and handling, of course)!

There were several other corner images by JB (on the FF) that made it to print...anyone have a little gallery of those?

i always loved JB's FF pinups that he would throw in
every now and then in the back of an issue.

i love the team cover that had Frankie Raye as part
of the team but i forget which issue that was...
