Jack Emmert, lead designer on the new pc game "City of Heroes" gave JB as one of his biggest influences:

GameSpy: Who are your favorite comic influences?

Jack Emmert: My personal inspirations have been the George Perez / Marv Wolfman New Teen Titans and the John Byrne / Chris Clairemont Uncanny X-Men. Both of the series started around when I started seriously collecting, though I had been reading comics for years. Those two series helped to change the entire industry; for the first time, storylines took into consideration the adult, as well as the teen, reader. Heroes weren't perfect -- they were portrayed as "normal" people with abnormal powers.

It looks like a rather fun game. I think they are also putting out a monthly comic that goes along with the subscription for playing the game. I haven't played an MMO game before, but I might give it a try. Heck, the superhero creation alone looks fun enough for me.
