Damn, that Surfer illo is great! And definitely in a class with the Kirby and Buscema versions. Is this from that Surfer one-shot?

Yup. Many years after we did that job together, Tom Palmer apologized to me for the degree to which he redrew most of it. Shooter had instructed him to "fix" everything.

That Surfer has just about my original pose left -- tho notice the cropping!!

This seems as good a time as any to ask if anyone knows the origin of this image. I assume the background has been blacked out but I don't know where it's from. Anybody?

It's from FF 259, Norrin's just noticed a matter transfer beam hitting the Earth (and kidnapping Reed, though he doesn't learn that for a couple of issues), and is about to butt heads with Terrax / Tyros.

The next issue was the first issue of FF I ever read. Not the best jumping on point, I'm sure, but even as a bewildered 11-year old, I managed to follow it. Maybe kids these days are just thick.

I love that The Question piece. That has always been a character who's look has outpaced the stories. There is just something about the whole noir trenchcoat and tie look, elements that resonate louder than even Denny O'Neil at his best (and he was seriously good) was able to convey.

That's something I always wondered since I read this story... I never knew if you where monkeying Buscema or if it was a powerful Palmer inking job.

Wonderfull job, tho I still would like to see your original art and enjoy it.
