So really, how tall is...

This is a bit of a pet-peeve of mine. Character heights. Maybe I am nitpicking just a little too much, but lets take the Thing for example. In the early years he seemed to be about 6 feet tall, right around the same height as Reed. This stayed the same for a lot of years. Now, it seems that every new artist increases/decreases his size and mass whenever they want. I think in the last couple of years Mr. Grimm has gone from 6' to 8' and back again. From being slightly larger than a big person (in terms of muscle-mass)to being comparable to a tank. This is the same problem for Wolverine. I have seen pics of Wolverine as tall as Cyclops, and then shrinking to about 5'3 in another title. Consistency people!

For my own $0.02, I always thought the Thing to be around 6'-6'2 and hugely massed. Wolverine between the heights of 5'3-5'5 and fairly bulky, but not as stocky as some would draw him. The Hulk should stand around 7'0 with massive amounts of muscle.

Oddly enough, I don't get this same feeling with DC characters. Other than different definitions of muscle-mass, the characters seem to be drawn with much more consistency.

Any thoughts?

I used to say the Thing was about 6ft -- in any direction!
