Detective work (and memory, mostly) tells me this is the picture my Dad took when I was working on my first ROG-2000 story for Charlton, the story that would go on to be my first professional publication. This would have been some time in late August or early September 1974.
That's a nice picture.
Who is in the picture in the background (looks kinda like Christopher Plummer...)?
By the way, I was two months old at the time. When I used to draw and get frustrated, because my 'Wolverine in the sewer' shot didn't come out right, I always took confort in the thought:
"Hey, this Byrne guy was good when I sucking tit!"
(forgot to put name in slot)

I was also wondering about that but it looks like DaVinci's Last Supper to me.

edited to say - I think you're right, it looks alot more like Dali's version. I'll shut up now and let JB answer.

Hey, I use to have a drafting table just like the one in the picture. 1974, I was four years old and about to cut my teeth on John Byrne work for the first time.
Is that your father's aquarium on the right hand of the photo?
*******
No, that's a painting I bought from one of my fellow Art College students. The Aquarium was several houses later.
***********
Was that at your parents house? Also, what are the books in the bookshelf behind you?
********
Yes, that's the 2 room "apartment" I had in the basement of my parents house when I was in my early 20s. About 2 months after this picture was taken I moved into my own apartment for the first time.
Couldn't begin to identify all those books at this point, tho I notice the 2 volume "Worlds Greatest Mysteries" is identifiable.
I grew my beard in 1968, after one long weekend when I didn't bother to shave. I took it off when I was in College -- and started growing it back the same day! My chin has not seen daylight since.
