Hi Gang:

I've been reading/looking at the BERNET hardcover book during my lunch hour...good stuff.

Go out and buy one.

Bernet is like Joe Kubert and Alex Toth with a dash of Sergio Aragones!

It is good. You will like it.

And...JB...are you familiar with BERNET's work? If so, whaddya think?

Beautiful stuff. I have the first TORPEDO, with the opening story by Toth, and I also have LA BELLE ET LA BETE, which is truly disturbing!

I got this book, too. AMAZING.
The Kubert/Toth (2 of my favorites)comparison is right on.
For over 230 pages and hardcover, 25 bucks is a bargain for this book!

And those Torpedo books are good too!

I was going through an older buddy's comic collection when I first discovered Torpedo. It was the first time I had read something obviously intended for adult readers that wasn't schlock, dreck, or soft/hard porn.

Good read, not for kids.

This book's a great addition to any art lover's bookshelf. Manuel Auad, the book's publisher, did a great job with this one. He had access to a lot of incredible work from Bernet's archives, and made a beautiful collection. I hope this does well enough to convince Manuel (or someone) to do a comprehensive Torpedo reprint someday.

For more on Auad Publishing, here's their website:

Manuel's published two great books on Toth, too, and has quite a few other sure-to-be-incredible projects in the works, too.

Wow! This Jordi Bernet is all new to me...so thanks! Now I've got another whole new comics thing to explore. Sounds exciting.

Look out for the Torpedo series. This is what the
british Vertigo writers would like to write when they
grow up.
