I was lucky enough to ink John once on Spiderman

I inked John on, if I remember correctly, Amazing Spiderman #12. Venom was in the issue and the credit for inking was John Beatty. John Beatty and I have been friends for a long time and I lived near him at the time he was doing the job. He needed some help so I inked 3 pages of the job. It was a blast working over Mr. Byrne's pencils.
If I ever get the chance I'd love to ink him again!

Welcome to the board, Mr. Smith. Are you still working with Crossgen these days?

I hope they don't owe you money, my friend. I've been hearing lots of nasty news regarding them lately. I know one fella who was VERY vocal in the middle of a Florida convention at the CrossGen booth because they had not returned his phone calls. I thought Alessi had more money than god! Evidently, the economy has hit the almighty hard too. -Rick

Andy Smith! Welcome to the madness!

I read about your lawsuit and wish you luck with it.
CrossGen owes you money and they should pay it no
matter what happens!

I was sympathetic to CrossGen at first, but they made
a lot of stupid decisions. The worst, of course, is
not paying its creators. So I hope your suit will
open the gates for the other freelancers to get what
is theirs by right!

Best,
Hunter (Pedro Bouça)

You can find details about CrossGen, and Andy's specific situation with them, here:

Best of luck Andy. I fondly remember your work from X-O Manowar and look forward to seeing whatever you'll be working on next.

"so I inked 3 pages of the job"

Andy,

Do you remember what pages they were??? I have the last page splash from that issue which looks like all Beatty, so just wondering. By the way that is my favourite issue artwise from that JB run so whatever part you played in it, thanks.

Welcome aboard Andy!

I met you at San Diego when I was one of the many portfolios you reviewed. You were very helpful and encouraging.

To the other aspiring artists on the board I highly recommend Andy's book "Drawing Dynamic Comics". It's head and shoulders above the flood of new books on drawing comics.

Best,

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.

I don't remember off the top of my head what page numbers I inked. I do remember they were near the end and Spidey is on them and I believe Doc Ock is too.
I didn't ink the last page with Venom that is all Big John Beatty!
If I can dig up the issue I'll post what page numbers I inked.

That was definately a rather enlightening read, if I say so myself. Helps to shed some light on the potential goings-on inside a seemingly corrupt company!
