Amazing. We have the several weeks late Avengers/JLA #4, the several months late Ultimates #13 and the several YEARS late (based on original series schedule) Planetary #19 all coming out on the same day. Must be "tribute to patient fans" week.
So far I've read Avengers/JLA (yowza!), Planetary (pretty good), Negation War (good, but the main points were all given away by the art previews) and JLA (very nice).
Dark Horse:
Conan #2
Star Wars Infinites:ROTJ #4 - A good what-if storyline for the books, to answer a previous question they've already done A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back.
DC:
Batman #625-The conclusion of the Broken City storyline.
JLA #95-John Byrne, 'nuff said.
DC/Marvel:
JLA/Avengers #4-It's amazing that Perez still has hands after looking at this series.
Marvel:
Hulk:Grey #6-The Hulks actually in it.
Ultimates #13-Just wait, Volume 2 #1 will be ready in 18 months, with #2 coming out a short 6 months later.
Ultimate FF #4-I think they finally have their powers, unless it's all a dream.
Need to re-read JLA/Avengers #4 -- the story hung together okay, but the ending/climax seemed a little dodgy/confusing, perhaps. Favorite scene: Hal and Barry, walking and talking about their respective fates. Darn near brought a tear to my eye. Between this and DC's New Frontier series, I'm REALLY starting to miss Hal and Barry.
JLA #95 was everything I've come to expect from a John Byrne book, and the Claremont scripting was very good, IMO.
Still waiting to read the Flash and Fused. I got about halfway through Flash #208, but it was getting late and my eyes were getting heavy, so I figured I'd wait until this evening to give it a good once-over.
"Fused" has been an interesting title from Dark Horse -- it started out over at Image (3 or 4 issues?), then the storyline and character moved over to Dark Horse. Interesting Iron Man-esque concept, with a twist: The man depends on the giant robotic suit of armor because his body has been consumed/integrated into the suit itself by the suit's integrated life support systems, leaving only his brain and personality, which is now fully linked with the suit's on-board computer. Reminds me a bit of JB's "Walkabout" character, except this union of man and machine was unintentional, and there's a definite touch of Stan Lee-esque tragedy thrown in. Worth checking out if you're looking for something new to pick up in the superhero vein.
GI Joe Reloaded #1
Wolverine/Punisher #1
Lady Death: The Wild Hunt #1
I review mostly #1's. I think it's more fair to a comic book to review a #1 then to jump right in the middle, especially since so many comics are tailored toward TPBs. I do review at "jumping-on" points, and I review comics that are traditionally self-contained, like anthologies.
