Spoiler Alert - Hellboy Review

I saw Hellboy last night and give it a C grade. JB's fears were right. It suffered from being too faithful and it affected the dramatic tension of the story. They were so concerned with getting the look so right, they forgot plot development and pacing. It was very flat and I was yawning throughout.

What I did like was Hellboy himself. Perlman did a great job in the role. The quiet scenes were also very well done and the supporting cast did their job.

And it also proved, for now, that a good makeup man beats CGI any day.

How do you compare this to other comic-related movies?

Very high up on the faithfulness, effects and look. Slightly above average on the enjoyment factor.

One of the better comic book movies but still a disappointment.
