I was at another website and there was a typical John Byrne thread. Someone mentioned however, I'll quote here...
" I read that JB had originally intended to use Power Girl to fill the role of Supergirl in his Superman run. He had intended to have her frozen in Antarctica and found with no memory of who she was. She would have filled the role of Supergirl, but the Secret Origins story got in the way and he was forced to create the Pocket Universe."
Is there any validity to this second-hand story???
Thank you, and sorry if you've told or explained this 20 times already.

Thank you. I had never heard that so I didn't think it was true. I suppose instinct is generally correct in these matters. The person said they read it in an article or something that was the only reason I questioned it at all.
Someone needs to "fix" many a fine female superhero
IMO!! BATGIRL(Babs), SUPERGIRL, and even POWERGIRL
need to be solid, strong characters in their own right! Done right, these female characters would draw a wider audience
than previous versions have.
Witness: Mike O'Brien fumbling around, awash in a sea of punchlines... trying his hardest to make some joke about grabbing a senorita while Bob grabs Mexican food..
John can you answer what was your intentions of creating the new Supergirl? Did you have plans for a spin off book? Were you going to at some point bring here back and reintroduce her as Supergirl, or did you purposely leave it open ended so that the next writer could do something with her? Hopefully you come back to this thread and feel like answering my quetions.
