Thought I would share my newest Byrne page of art I got today and offer all the coloring folk to give it a shot!
I remember back when we had our "who draws the best Dinos" thread-
I said Byrne- and this proves I win
This one shouldn't be too hard for anyone to color that wants a shot.
Who is in?
edited to add:
This page is from 2112 to anyone who didn't know.
very cool book which helsp kick off the story line of JBNM but both books are done so well you didn't have to know of the other to enjoy the one.
In fact it was many years after I had read JBNM that I found my copy of 2112 and read it for the first time-
both stood alone and yet togehter perfectly.
I remember thinking how cool it was that these two dinos, these HUGE monsters on the opening splash, turned out to just be two mini, genetic fighting dinos on the next-
cool stuff.
the title of this book is listed as "tomorrow" was this for something else or was that originally the title of 2112?
If so, it was a pretty cool title.
This art seems to be on slightly bigger board than usual- is there a special reason for that?
"Walt Simonson,"
I dont remember seeing a Walt Dino, not off the top of my head...
"William Stout,"
Had to look him up on the internet to find out about him. Saw A T-rex head of his- to my eye it looked a lot like a Byrne XMHY Rex- saw some other stuff of his, nice but not better.
"Frank Frazetta"
Who cares, I can NEVER aford any of his art anyway!
Now- how about the "Tomorrow" question? Did you miss that one?
Thanks...
MARIO: How long before we see dinosaurs in the book?
WALT: Oh, probably a while yet. If you check back, you'll find that despite my (apparently) well-known enthusiasm for dinosaurs, I've actually done very few dinosaur stories over the years. (Did you know I wrote one for Arthur Adams?) Don't have any plans to do one in ORION but you never know [g].
This piece of Johns work shows one of the things I really look up to him for. Texture!! It's really important to have texture in comic book art, and John is one of the masters at this. When I'm inking, and I need a texture for something, I always turn to Johns work for my answer.

Thanks for noticing. I wish more inkers would.

You are most welcome, and thank you for showing me the way over the years.
I can't quite bring myself to list better dinosaur artists than JB. Seems wrong to do it on his board (unless he starts it!). So, instead I will list some of my favorite dinosaur artists:
John Byrne
William Stout (his THE DINOSAURS book with Wm. Service renewed my interest in dinosaurs that I had thought I had grown out of).
Art Adams
Bud Root
Martin Arlt.....................................
P.S. Dwayne, I AM jealous of that page you got. Happy?
Gerry colored the Dinos and sent them to me via email!
I uploaded it to share it for him in this post:
Very cool! Good job.
I haven't even started yet. I have been trying to color the Pheonix commision- but its next.
