I have a copy of Captain America's 40th Anniversary issue which was a retelling of his origin buried somewhere in my collection.(BTW - Another Great Stern/Byrne Production and a cool Frank Miller cover) .
I seem to recall reading in a fan magazine (don't remember which mag) back during the 1981-82 time frame that the Cap anniversary story was actually another story that never saw the light of day. I believed that the artwork was published in the mag.
Does anyone know if this Cap artwork is posted anywhere on the web?
Also, does anyone know why this story did not get published?
Thanks In Advance
James

You might be thinking of Comics Feature #10. It has an article about the lost Stern/Byrne Red Skull trilogy and the cover has a redesigned Red Skull. The article is interesting reading if anybody out there has access to it and would care to upload it. The TPB has the 6 unused pages that was going to be the beginning of the trilogy. Too bad the plug got pulled.
The coolest thing you guys were going to do IIRC was 'Tales from the War Journal'. The journal was introduced in #247 and was going to recount stories of Cap battling evil Nazis during WWII.

Does anyone have that cover so that it can be posted here?
