The board participation feels a little slow today! I guess everybody's busy filing their taxes.

I've had problems with the board on a couple of occasions.

And then there's that working for a living thing.

I think JB is busy being all creative and stuff. He's got all the ideas from his trip to the city to lay down and make happen.

And who knows, TBA might be moving towards STBA*

Finished them last night. Just need to get them stamped and in the post. Procrastination is not a hobby, it's a lifestyle.

the tax man cometh...

Mine were filed in late January...of course it is a great motivator when you know you are getting money back.

Still we should feel lucky about this whole tax thing as we (residents of the USA) pay one of the lowest tax burdens of the industrialized world and have one of the most efficient goverment sectors to boot (despite all our complaints).

now if we could only balance that budget deficit thingie...

If for some reason I'm ever afforded the opportunity to work with you Mark, let's not do it. The project would consist of surfing the JBF for several weeks, followed by a frantic string of all nighters.

I too got money back this year, but that still wasn't enough for me to get them filed any earlier than the 15th of April. I might change my filing status for this year to allow for less to be taken from my biweekly paycheck, and the have to pay when fiing next year. I don't mind that, I've been pretty good with my money in recent years and I think that I can manage it better than the federal government. "Interest free loan to the government" my ass ...

Anyone else who had taxes withheld from their paychecks follow this strategy?

Just be careful doing that. If the amount you underpaid goes over a certain threshold, then they'll charge you a fee. I had to pay the state of Georgia $70, plus $3 extra for "lateness."

Certainly makes me glad I don't have to pay state taxes - especially in Georgia!

Of course, being an out of stater can be a pain sometimes.... 30 days now and I'm STILL waiting on my new tags for my car.

Oh that's rich. The federal government can take an "interest free loan from you", in the form of overpayment, but your state can charge you 'interest' if they don't get your money on the spot.

I keep just enough of my paycheck to have to pay a little bit of tax on 4/15.

Not me! It's only 5:15 pm in LA and I'm heading down to the post office as soon as I hit "send." Huurs to spare!

What?

April 15 2004, 8:23 PM

Jeez, you guys are slackers. I got part of my fortune BACK from the government in mid-February and its all spent except for the "vacation" dough. I ain't letting the government "borrow" my money for any longer than absolutely necessary.
Conversely, the LAST loan I will ever pay off is my student loan. I can't buy that kind of rate! Its all in how you spin it, Ron.

The 15th is past, we waiting for our chaecks to be cashed by the IRS< or waiting for them to send us some of our money back ... Hearing this on the radio last night made me think how right on George got it.

THE BEATLES - "Taxman"
(Harrison)

[1,2,3,4
Hrmm!
1,2...
1,2,3,4.]

Let me tell you how it will be
There's one for you, nineteen for me
Cos I'm the taxman, yeah, I'm the taxman

Should five per cent appear too small
Be thankful I don't take it all
Cos I'm the taxman, yeah I'm the taxman

If you drive a car, I'll tax the street
If you try to sit, I'll tax your seat
If you get too cold I'll tax the heat
If you take a walk, I'll tax your feet

Taxman!
Cos I'm the taxman, yeah I'm the taxman

Don't ask me what I want it for (Aahh Mr. Wilson)
If you don't want to pay some more (Aahh Mr. Heath)
Cos I'm the taxman, yeah, I'm the taxman

Now my advice for those who die
Declare the pennies on your eyes
Cos I'm the taxman, yeah, I'm the taxman

And you're working for no one but me
Taxman!
