Why even CALL it "The Manchurian Candidate?" They even had to invent a frigging CORPORATION with that name to make the title work.

i didn't think it was THAT bad but you're right about the corporation. might as well just call the movie by a different title.

I just looked this trailer up on Yahoo. Ho hum.

The only selling point to the film is the name evoking the original classic. There are too many works between this and the original that if they hadn't called it "The Manchurian Candidate" people would have said they were fusing Total Recal with Wag the Dog.

Denzel is another intense hero, I think I've seen this performance.
Streep gets to segue into villains now, good for her.

this trailor looks interesting but they show too much, and should have never showed the part where the woman is holding the gun.

I wonder how Hollywood will tie this movie into Bush being the Anti-christ though.

Why would Hollywood NEED to do that?

I first screened THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE a couple months ago, and I'm here to tell you that there was NO NEED to update the darn thing. It plays as well as any modern thriller. Fantastic slam-bang ending, too.

Sadly, the performance of the remake will probably influence people not to see the original. At least A PERFECT MURDER and THE TRUTH ABOUT CHARLIE were good enough to change the titles from DIAL M FOR MURDER and CHARADE so the originals would not be tainted.
