Should DC have Jim Lee draw every title to help boost sales?

Picked up the new Superman which looked good but have not read it yet and was pondering....Since Jim Lee's run on Batman was so successful and his work drawing Superman in his Batman run led to him doing this Superman arc which if history serves should make it the top selling book as well for the 12 issues he is going to do....should Jim Lee do arcs on all the characters?

Not a flippant question although it may sound like one..... If Lee's work generates sales figures as it does...doesn't it make sense to utilize him to the fullest? Neal Adams was used for cover work because his work sold so well..... Imagine a Jim Lee Green Lantern run, a Hawkman, Flash?

It will be interesting to see if lightning strikes twice for him which I think it will. HUSH was cool even though the mystery was not a mystery so much but the overall package was GREAT and it got people to stand up and take notice again. If Lee can jump start Superman...could he not also do the same for other DC properties?

Jim Lee is a tremendous talent......IMHO.

Curious as to what you guys think about this.....

I think that you are missing an important element to the Hush storyline, and that is the writer. Hush had a very dynamic storyline, with lots of action/adventure. I think even the people that didn't care for the storyline must admit that it was a great ride from an action-oriented point of view. When glancing through the new Superman, I thought the pencils were ok, but not as great as I expected. But that might have something to do with the fact that I really didn't see anything interesting happening in the issue. The first part of a story-arc should contain something exciting to get the reader interested in future issues. The only thing I noticed whilst flipping through the issue was a whole lot of Superman talking to a priest, and a quick jaunt through space to see Green Lantern. Yawn!

So in answer to your question, no, they would need more than just Jim Lee.

I gotta agree

HUSH started out strong and from the first few pages it really grabbed you.... Superman...for me didn't. Lee's style seemed to work bette for Batman. So far his Superman hasn't grabbed me like his work on HUSH.

Sure it had lots of action - shame it most of it made little or no sense as a story.

Yup, i glanced thru it and had no interest in what i saw. Jim Lee's
a fine artist but i like his take on BATMAN more than on SUPERMAN.

Despite no necks...

I quite like Jim's work, and I think he's a fine artist. In my book he fights with Chris Bachalo for third after JB and Perez. So I'm giving this book a chance because I like his stuff.

All the comments above about writing are spot on. I think Jeph was underrated over on Batman for the Hush arc. We'll see what happens in Superman. I'm sticking with it and seeing where it heads.

I loved Hush and I thought his work on that was great. So, while certain people around these here parts will tell you that he doesn't draw necks, I'm buying it!

I think Jim Lee provides a boost, but character is important too. And timing as well. Jim Lee's Batman run was the first regular book he had done in years. If he becomes more of a fixture, then the same thrill won't be there.

As for other characters, keep in mind that most folks are going to be more interested in a "good Batman story" than, say, a "good Aquaman story." So while he may bring more people in, we won't see the relatively high sales that came with Batman. (Didn't he do a Sleeper special that only sold moderately well?)
