See, I'm only 16. I have a tippmann M98, and I love it. I payed for it, but I love it. OK, heres what I think. Well, first, a story!
OK, I go to church, I'm a baptist if anyone cares, and my church has a youth camp held in the mountains of South Carolina. There is a little camp place up there, and you can pay extra, and get in a youth paintball tournament. my team won it last summer, I was kicking butt. It was great. Anyways, they make you use a pump up there. it IS a VERY different game. Strategy means so much, you can't just spray and pray. (hehe, church humor!!) Anyways, I think it is a lot of fun, even though I love my semi.
OK, now for the point of that little story: If you like playing with a pump, and you can really get strategy going, then its a lot of fun. but, obviously, if you're at a walk on game at your local fiend, and you're playing against angels, uhh, good luck, thats about all I can say.
Also, if you want a good pump, heres your options: You can get the best pump ever made, in all areas of a gun, in my opinion, the Tippmann SLii. its very nice. Or, you can get a tinkers gun, the Tigershark. See, the "non metal" frame is a lot of fun to play with!! You can do so much to it, and not really screw your gun up to bad. You can really customize it, and not have to worry about ruining anything. So, you can really choose from those, or, you could get one of each!! J/k. well, I guess you could if you wanted to! As far as barrels, I dont know. I'll find out though for you, and see what kind of barrels you can get for those. If you want a quiet barrel, go for a J&J ceramik. I heard that the smart parts all american was the quietest, well, it isn't. I have an all american, and my friend has a J&J, and his J&J is quietter than my All american. And, he payed a lot less for it than I did. The all american is an all around excellent barrel though, I do recommend it. I'll reply again later for you, with some more info. Wadd
