Someone last meeting suggested a banquet to raise money, where tickets would be sold for members to attend.
Debbie has recently posted an item about kickbacks from Amazon. Please refer to it and comment.
Are there ideas for other possible carving events besides competitions, where carvers could be paid and the guild would also get some money? (Something on the order of the Welcome to Whidbey sign.)
The banquet idea sounds nice... but who's gonna organize that... ya really think there'd be a good turnout? I dunno....
Amazon... seems like a one time effort thing and money would trickle in... I like this....
I don't think it'd necessarily exempt us from being non-profit... If it got to the point where we made alot of money with it, we could update the newsletter to color... buy Tshirts for sale, etc. etc.

When I was a board member in the PTA we applied for 501c3 status. We were also involved in this sort of Amazon fundraiser, it had nothing to do with achieving our goal of getting 501C3 status.
I have read what Debbie posted from Amazon and phoned her to clarify some questions. I think it sounds great.
However, at this time, Cindy is planning to resign as treasurer. Would it be better if we waited until this happens, in case we change banks, and account numbers or something? I don't know enough about the system to know whether it would be a problem.
