Our annual meeting will take place May 10, 2008 in Sequim, WA. Time and place to be decided.
The agenda so far includes:
By-laws, discussion and (hopefully) adoption.
Elections- of Directors, President, Vice President, and the appointment of Secretary and Treasurer.
Other topics include a Mail-in vote protocol, Ad sales, The budget, the on-line store, fund raising, donations, the newsletter.
If you are going to be there and want to add to the agenda, list it here so your interest may be addressed. Please don't wait until the meeting to raise a new subject. We are going to be somewhat limited in time because some of our members will be taking part in the events of the Irrigation festival.
is on the northern end of the olympic pennisula, the log show is on the east end of town as you come into town, take the first exit off the short reeway and look to your right when you get close to blake stone and rock right by the QFC supermarket, the spar poles are quite visible and as you enter the log show grounds drive to the cernter and look for assorted riff raff and beat up trucks that would belong to full time carvers{ carvers with real jobs or wives with income seem to drive newer rigs} parking is a nightmare on saterday but if you get there friday its not so bad
a gang carving will happen on friday to benifit a local charity and pay the rent, this is a pow wow of carvers a real meeting will happen as well as a campfire meeting at tremkos black sheep compound{what were the hip boots for dave?} at any rate if this works out and we dont burn the place down we will become a better gang of carvers,
if we have a live auction in addition to the silent auction {if boaz shows} there will be a 30% deduct, this is an optional auction you are not required to play if you dont want to,
no% on sales but if you want to donate to the campfire fund feel free, just ask jack from yak.
see you there.......................
I'm sorry to say I'm not yet up to snuff and won't be there for the meeting. This is a hard decision and one I hate to make, but circumstances command it. alas.
For all of you who will be there, the most important issue is the budget.
Raising money to support the Newsletter is essential. There is no money left for the next issue and we cannot spend what we don't have. I understand there is going to be an auction of some sort, and it may bring in some money, but the on-going need will outstrip any amount raised on a one-time basis. Think in terms of year-round income. Ads, auctions, donations, more members dues, fund raisers.
You may notice on the ballot that the name of Susan Miller is absent. She has decided to move on to other interests, much to my dismay. She is a great asset and has been a pillar in the guild for many years. We will miss her.
Great news..I spoke with Susan yesterday and she will stay with us for a while longer. I suggested the position of Secretary/treasurer and she agreed. This is not an elected position, so the directors need only appoint her. If you are all in agreement, I think she is the ideal choice and know we can use her honesty and industry. Please consider her for the position.
thanks, Mike McVay
