As many of you may be aware the State of Victoria, Australia is in the grip of extreme heat and 'bush fires' which have wiped out whole towns, one of these towns a pretty little hamlet at the foot of our alpine region called "Marysville" has been totally wiped out, there is nothing left.
Marysville was the home of Harley Morgan and his wife Errol. It is with great sadness, their son Andrew has informed me Harley and Errol have not survived the 'fire storm'.
Andrew is aware of the huge 'carving' family Harley so often spoke about, and his passion to carve and share his knowledge with anyone who showed even just a little bit of interest, sadly Andrew is unable to personally contact Harely's carving family as all records have been lost.
What to say at a time of such sad news? I find when times are darkest I need to think of the light to come. The loss of so many good people, destruction of dreams and property is obviously the darkness. The ability of humanity to dust itself off, grieve and rebuild is the promise of the light to come. My thoughts are with those who have suffered so much.
I hope 'Sam' the Koala might be harbinger of the dawning light. Maybe he will be Australia's Smokey Bear. This thought is from the heart of a dedicated, licenced Smokey Bear carver. Jack
So sorry to hear.
Im at a lost for words when i hear of such a lost. Just cant imagine what they must have gone through. Our prayers and love are with them all.
At 11 am on Saturday March 14 there will be a memorial service for our friends from Marysville at Melbourne Christian Fellowship, 70 Holloway Road, Wonga Park (Melway 36 K5).
