Response to Anne, how irritating

She's normally so good and so informed--UCSF is a teaching hospital so they tend to be really on top of things--I was surprised when she said the whole thing about having a better chance of getting preg. the 2nd time. It seemed so silly and anecdotal, you know?

Still, I'm annoyed that I didn't get what I want, but I can't really blame the gyno for wanting the monitored cycle for fertility drugs. I know that there are risks involved and she said that she felt it would be unethical of her to expose me to those risks. I just kinda wish that she wasn't so careful.

The thing is that when I got pregnant with Z, it was the month AFTER I took the clomid. I had to kind of laugh because the doctors, including my gyno, that I have mentioned this to always say, "Oh no, that's not how clomid works, it's only effective during 1 cycle." But clomid has a 60 day half-life, right? So if the drug is still in your system, how can anyone say definitively that it doesn't effect the next cycle? It seems that there is so much that they don't understand about reproduction, it always makes me kind of roll my eyes when I hear a doctor say that with such confidence. And then, in the case of my gyno, to in the next breath to be all touchy-feely-mysterious-reproductive-system about how I've been pregnant once, so now my body "knows how".

whatever. I still like my gyno, I'm just wishing that she would have just given me the damn prescription...
