I'm 42 and ttc#2 as well. DD is nearly 3 though, so we've been trying a while with no success. See signature line.
I just wanted to say that, although an FSH of 88 is never good news under any circumstances, I wouldn't read it as though it was a Day 3 number since your system is obviously out of whack. Definitely try something to reset the system - BCPs or Provera. I'd opt for BCPs at this stage because they contain not only progesterone but also estrogen. the estrogen brings your FSH down as well. Obviously, a Day 3 reading straight after coming off BCPs won't be a naturally accurate one, but at this point all that's academic. What you need to do is get your FSH down low enough that your ovaries are resensitised and can respond. They just shut down when FSH gets too high, which makes FSH go higher, etc (vicious cycle).
If your FSH at the beginning of a cycle is too high, you might try estinyl or similar to bring it down, then stop when your FSH is low enough and your ovaries start responding (E2 gets to 50 or 100 or so). This is what Dr. Check does.
Are you anywhere near NJ? Check might be worth a visit. Otherwise you could get a phone consult with one of the drs there. They are relaly good at working with very high FSH.
