Another scan ... RE is rather amazed (cross-post)

Currently CD9, so this is after 7 days of stims (450 Gonal F + 75 Luveris):

L 17, 17, 14, 14, 13
R 11, 11

E2 has yet to come in, but RE says it can be quite inaccurate on antagonist cycles.

Anyway, my RE is very pleased/amazed (looking at my antrals, he thought we'd get three follies this cycle). "Could be the Luveris!" he said. "Yeah," I thought, "could be the DHEA too! But I'll tell you about that AFTER the cycle." Not that I've withheld the information on the forms I've filled out, just haven't brought it to his attention ...

Last July, my first IVF was a total disaster (two tiny follicles not really growing and E2 going nowhere, so cancelled) and last cycle (November) was only barely acceptable (slow response, 4 follies, but only two eggs retrieved).

Anyway, I have another scan on CD11, with trigger either that night or a day later, so retrieval on CD13 or 14.

Thanks for listening - again! I have tried and tried to be one of those people who just quietly cycles and doesn't bug everyone all the time, but I just can't do it!!!

whoo-hoo! I told you so!

7 follies - you go girl! I bet you get even a few more when you go to retrieval. My first thought too was the DHEA - I've started taking it too, wishing I'd kept up with it last fall when I kind of did a half-hearted attempt at taking some. I'm so psyched for you - what awesome progress.

Keep us posted about every scan - if you don't we'll bombard you with questions about every detail!!

Yeah, I think the DHEA deserves some of the credit, for sure. And acupuncture too, although I am hoping that'll help more with egg quality.

Oooh, what a thought, getting even more at retrieval -- I don't even dare hope! I'll be happy if we can get 4 mature eggs from this lot, as that's twice as many as last time.

You have 7 visible follies in play?! You must just be thrilled. It's so wonderful to know that we are not condemned to repeat our last cycle, or our worst cycle. I wonder if it was DHEA that did the trick, or just natural variance. Anyway, I couldnt be happier for you. Those follies look great. I eagerly await your E2 update. Let's get some more nice, even growth from those follies. Best of luck!!!

Yeah, could be some natural variation, but I think the variation is more than would be expected, so I am convinced the DHEA has helped, and the LH, and the acupuncture.

Wish I had a scan at home so I could check these follies every day!!

WOOOHOOOOO, that is so fantastic. You must be so thrilled; I am.

And forget about keeping quiet as you cycle; hek that is what the board is for isn't it? To keep us all updated with the good and the bad. This time it is good and keep it coming.

LOL, OK, I'll be noisy about my updates. At least this board is low traffic, hopefully more posting leads to more posting from others too ...

Yeah, follies are one thing but BFPs are the bottom line. Well, I am still happy to be responding so much better despite being significantly older than I was the last two cycles. At 40 they say your fertility plummets every 3 months, so I was getting antsy waiting to cycle.

I'm taking Cetrotide 250mcg once a day (in the evenings, a couple of hours before my evening shots). Just off for another scan this morning, so will post later with sizes. Just hoping they haven't all fizzled!!
