Auuggghhh!!!! I have never before had a yeast infection, but after some extensive web searching, I believe that's what I've got. Fits the description to a T and I was on both steroids and antibiotics for bronccitis which would explain the onset. So (stupidly) I decided to self-medicate under the assumption that it actually is a yeast infection (no medical insurance you see) last night through the use of a monistat 1-day treatment ovule. I am also taking L.acidophilus "yeast control" capsules.
PLEASE DEAR GOD....How long does it take for this stuff to work? Does anyone know? I am 26 and checked out the old vag with a hand-held mirror, spread out my labia, and was MORTIFIED by the ammount of thick, white, odorless goo that has overtaken my poor vagina. I inserted the Monistat "ovule" at about 10:00 pm last night and it is 3:00 pm then next day now. I almost think that the ovule has exacerbated the problem. Has anyone had any experience with treating this with OTC meds? Please help! I am absolutely freaking out by the sheer ammount of weird stuff in my vagina. I read not to douche it out....and no bubble baths, but do you think I could take a regular bath with no soap? I really feel the need to get this gross stuff out of me! Help!

I totally understand, girlfriend. Been there, done that. It will be a pretty horrible couple of days but it will all be worth it when it's gone. Just be patient and let the medicine do it's trick. I believe you are right about the antibiotics bringing it on. Does it to me every time. The one-day ovual may not be enough, however, you may have to do a 2-day or 3-day. But keep an eye one it and see what happens. But it should go away soon and your lovely vagina will be right as rain.

If you eat yougert with your antibiotics it will help prevent infections. The antibiotics kill all the "good" bacteria in your area, so the yougert replaces it.

It could be yeast, but when I have had yeast the 20 or so times in my life it usually is very itchy too and sometimes has a odor. Usually the itchy part is the worst. You should take the 3 day stuff and if you still have the problem you should go to the doctor it could be something else.
