Freestyle wrestling really annoys me. The scoring is lame. A takedown with no amplitude is only worth one point while a simple flip while on the mat is worth two points. Many of the flips are relatively easily executed such as when a wrestler goes for a double or single leg and his opponent grabs him around the waist pulling him over. That is the most chicken s’ move, but like a lot of the simple two point flips or turns in a scramble situation they’re worth more than a takedown which is far more difficult to get. Doesn’t make sense. Also, because of the emphasis on takedowns a ton of wrestling is ruled out. Maybe ¾ of bottom wrestling is eliminated because the bottom man’s main concern is to avoid back exposure, oftentimes from a stupid little flip, long enough to be stood back up. And a great deal of top position wrestling is eliminated because of the danger of the top man exposing his back momentarily and the top man not pursuing a strategy or techniques which usually require more time to score with because of the tiny amount of time allowed before they’re stood up again. If after the first period there is no score one wrestler is given his opponent’s leg in a single leg hold. All he has to do is run his opponent out of bounds to score a point! Gimme a break! Folkstyle is far superior in my opinion. I don’t know why freestyle endures. Also, I believe American wrestlers are at a big disadvantage because folkstyle and freestyle differ so much. If folkstyle were the international style I’m sure we would do much better. Your thoughts please.

I think the exact opposite. I think folkstyle is stupid. You don't get any points for a big throw, and throws are the best part of wrestling. I hate how top and bottom is for folksyle too, its stupid. I do agree with you somewhat about international wrestling, I just think we should always be wrestling freestyle or greco. Plus freestyle is not as easy as you make it sound unless you are wrestling a huge pud.
