This is a book discussion board, not a library! (we need some noise!) Matrix question

Lets get a little more discussion going! OK, this is soooo far behind because I just saw the first Matrix, was there a book for it first? What about the sequels? Has anybody read commentary on the movie? Having seen it after the impact on the popular culture, I can see that it has been huge. Film is such a powerful medium because so many people are exposed to the most popular films, compared to books or TV.

Here is my next question: What book/books are you reading right now?

I am listening to "Hotel Paradise" by Martha Grimes
I am reading "Cloudstreet" by Tim Winton and "The Torso in the Town" by Simon Brett. Just can't get me away from mysteries.

Last question: Would it be hard for Murph to put a link to this board from the main board and OT? I wonder if the rest of you find it time consuming to navigate back to the main page to get here? I have this bookmarked at work, but when I go to the library it does take longer to get here.

Hey Becky...

I don't think there is a book for the Matrix. I'm not entirely sure, though.

I'm reading Claire and Present Danger by Gillian Roberts right now. It's a nice, light (no thinking) mystery. I've just finished Close To Home by Peter Robinson and The Sniper's Wife by Archer Mayor. Both are pretty good.

Talk soon,
Renee

Hi Renee and Russell mystery titles

So Claire and Present Danger must be a "cozy". What is the gimmick with this one, food, art, sewing? It's funny, but it seems that Diane Mott Davidson's gourmet cooking mysteries caused a real boom in the cozy genre and now there is a mystery to suite just about any hobby or interest. So, we could start our own Russell genre (NOT smussell!)of cozies featuring Russell. "As the Crowe Flies", "Death in the Crowe's Nest", this may be worth a question on the main board don't you think! lol

I think you'll like the gimmick.

The main character is a high school English/Literature teacher.

I like Diane Mott Davidson. I've even tried some of her recipes.

If you like cozy, light mysteries (I like them for summer) here are a few to try.

Tim Cockey--Main character owns a funeral parlor.
Shirley Rousseau Murphy--Talking cats who solve crime.
Lilian Jackson Braun--Siamese cats who solve crime.
Carolyn Hart--Main character owns a bookstore specializing in mysteries.
Susan Wittig Albert--Main character owns an herb shop/tea house.

As for Russell mysteries, if somebody writes 'em, I'll read 'em.

Hi Renee

I'll have to try her. I've read Lillian Jackson Braun, since I've had Siamese all my life. I just picked up a new on (Earlene Fowler?) that is about quilting! I like cozies, because they are sort of like eating a box of chocolates. There are few surprises, and if uninterrupted you just keep going until you are all done!
