As stated by Manuel Emch, CEO of Jaquet Droz:

"Originally (in the 18th century), there was no hyphen in the name Jaquet Droz. The hyphen came only later (first half of 20th century). And we decided to get back to the origins.

As an interesting anecdote: Our company is located in rue Jaquet Droz in La Chaux-de-Fonds. The original street sign (on one end of the street) is without the hyphen and the newer one (set some years ago) is with the hyphen!

As another interesting anecdote: Antiquorum, the auction house, uses Jaquet Droz without a hyphen lately since their historian told them that historically there is no hyphen.

Unfortunately somebody has reserved the domain name jaquetdroz.com and we could only use jaquet-droz.com because we did not want to take legal action against. Investment in time and effort in getting back this domain would not have been worth as we should get back the domain name within the next 2 years.

Best regards,

Manuel Emch
Montres Jaquet Droz SA"

Thank you, Mr. Emch!
