Having read about Bandon Teena, her life and death, I have been looking for a way to be heard. I owe that to this person who lived to have hopes and dreams like others except she ran across abounding ignorance in a small town. That was her downfall, going to Falls City. The sherrif was one of the most stupid charactors in the concluding days and hours of the life of Brandon. Thank God he is not a person whom would be considered to be the "norm" of sherrif's departments across this nation. I hope the two men who decided to play judge, jury and executioner will be judged with the same manner in which they decided to end the life of a 21 year old with her whole life ahead of her. I hope the sherrif will be forced to recall daily what he did and did't do for a human being who came to him for help and for protection. How can he make it through life without hearing the crys and horrifying details one human being faced and know that he could have changed the end to her story?
Thank you for letting me say what must be said in order that I know I didn't just do anything if only to say how very sad i feel for one human reaching out to another and receiving nothing but contempt and lack of understanding on any level. Perhaps the sherrif will relive the life of Brandon Teena many times over before his life is over.
