I was wondering what you think of the rash of insider trading in the tech sector lately. I've noticed that it is conveniently happening before the second quarter earnings.
I am currently long the market and have been since March, but like you I don't think it will last.
If the commercials reverse and go short would you be shorting the tech stocks that had the most insider selling?
When the commercials go net short again, I'll probably short SPY and QQQ. And I'll probably buy QQQ and SPY LEAPS (puts). That's what I did last time and it worked very well.
I don't pay much attention to what the insiders are doing with a stock. I know that there are people that do, and it very well may be a profitable strategy. But there are a lot of reasons that insiders would be selling their stock. Most of the time it is simply for diversification and financial planning reasons. But if there is a rash of it, it probably has some significance.
