treasury auctions

Larry,
It seems like every other day the gov. is auctioning 5, 10, 25 billion in notes. Is this typical?

Jim,

I know it seems like every other day, but Treasury bill auctions are held once a week. Note and bond auctions are held about twice a month. Of course the size of the auctions keeps growing as the government needs more and more money to fund important programs like loan guarantees and subsidies to people who raise angora goats. That particular giveaway dates back to the days when mohair was used in military coats.
