according to my calc, as of today's close - we're about 4% away from putting on a leveraged postion in the COT strategy. about 50 S&P points.

heck, we could get there this month! (this week?)

it's getting ugly out there! (or, "pretty" for us)

now we're about 2.9% from the 40 WMA - going short leveraged (strat #5). it is indeed getting ugly!

Trivia question for anyone who is inclined to look for the answer. How long has it been since the Dow fell the first three weeks in a row to begin a year?

I've changed my mind, 1982

Yep, 1982 is the right answer.

But there's a big difference between now and 1982. 1982 was the year of the end of the bear market that began in 1973. Stocks were getting very cheap. It happened this year after the market had been going up for about 21 months and the stock market is among the most expensive in history.

It's kind of funny watching the talking heads on CNBC try to rationalise that the market is cheap right now at about 20 times earnings....I just can't wait to load up on Google and Yahoo
