Talmudic Mysticism with Rabbi Professor Meir Sendor
The Talmud is our source-text, not only for our vast Torah legal system, but also for our profound Jewish mystical tradition. For a true appreciation of all further developments in Jewish mysticism and Kabbalah, and for our own spiritual development, a familiarity with Talmudic mysticism is a necessity. We will explore the esoteric contemplative traditions of the Talmud through an in-depth reading of Chapter 2 of the Tractate Hagigah, with its discussion of the Work of Creation and the Work of the Chariot. Our Talmudic learning will be supplemented with material drawn from Merkavah and Heikhalot mystical texts of the Talmudic period.
Date: Thursday evenings, March 2, 9, 16, 23, 30, and April 6
Time: 7:00 - 9:00 pm

Lurianic Meditation with Rabbi Professor Meir Sendor
We will practice one of the powerful meditations of the Lurianic kabbalists, the soul-root meditation as described by Rabbi Hayyim Vital in his Shaarei Kedushah. This is a rigorous spiritual workout that exercises a variety of modes of consciousness, and has a deep inner connection with the meditation techniques of the Merkavah and Heikhalot mystics of the Talmudic period. This is an intermediate level workshop: participants in this course must have prior meditation experience.
Date: Wednesday evenings, May 3, 10, 17, 24, 31 and June 7
Time: 7:00 - 9:00 pm

Rabbi Meir Sendor received his PhD from Harvard University where he studied medieval Jewish history, specifically the history of Jewish mysticism. Rabbi Sendor received his ordination at the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary of Yeshiva University. He is a faculty member of Me'ah and the Me'ah Institute. As well he is the rabbi of Young Israel in Sharon, MA, where he has been the spiritual leader for many years.
