"I concentrate on the things I love. Rather its better to kiss a girl I think I might fall in love with, than doing the four backed beat with some darling pleasantries. I don't like bands that much in general, a bowling green is more interesting than the entire recorded output of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Its redundant that people in bands just like other bands and music, the inspiration is supposed be some relation to the world, not a pair of a speakers and a Velvet Underground fixation as it tends to be. Why are you in a band."cos when I was about sixteen, my older brother gave me the first album and it was realy cool, so I wanted my own band."
We're in a band cos all the people we know with talent and creativity are being rogered outside dire recruitment agencies and made to feel worthless. We're in a band because call centres exist and young men of this country want to act the filth on stage and pose lines like "rock and roll generated my soul" as though none of this matters, and running away is a coward's shit and a half. We're in a band because the sidestreets are dying, and the media just wants gentrified turds from Richmond to sing about sex or pyschosematic mental illness. No band we see from round here ever sings about being young and living in london, or sheffield, or Cork, or Cleethorpes. Thats a downright sin."
