Live365.com has been on line and was the first on line to make net radio a dominant format. The many changes that have come along has been great such as better broadcasting tools. They have embraced advertising sales and making money threw a profit sharing program. Live365.com has been around since forever and also have been the leader in net radio. When people think of net radio, most people believe in and have heard of Live365.com and it;s the same thing when you think of news, you think of CNN.
The ASCAP situation is one that Live365.com handled very well. The situation was that ASCAP and other rights company's came in and tried to get broadcasters to pay for rights to the music in very high fees. The folks at the other places either did not fight and let them set prices or tried and failed to fight the industry and then was forced into a worse situation than if they would have done like Live365.com did by working with the company's and if you are a subscriber you can pay one price with your services and not have to deal with ASCAP and others on their own.
Broadcasters in the mainstream world work and live and die by ratings and the live365.com folks know this as well. They have worked with different ratings company's to make things go smoothly on that end. The other areas of ratings is Live365.com going out and making a easy to use ratings system to make it completive over at their own brand unlike others like Alternacast whose ratings could be rigged and manipulated by casters for their own greedy gains. Advertising is another avenue that live365.com has done that others have either not committed to or not even bothered to explore.
Diverse Programing is the place that live365.com has tried to do better than other places. The diverse programing has been a trademark of live365.com unlike others who have issues such as Alterancast was talk but never marketed it;s stars or anything. Live365 is the home to many music and talk channels and has lots of name faces such as former DC101 jock, “The Greaseman”.
The #1 priority is listener ship and broadcasting from Live365.com standpoint. You look at Audiorealm.com whose focus has been their broadcasting program and then you have the Alternacast brand whose focus was making money at all costs by charging listeners but not making issues of casting and listening their top plan. Live365.com has went out and made it listener effective by offering choices and special offers to it's members. Broadcasting has been given the offers and specials as well, such as new music,etc. Weather it's other company's talking smack, live365.com has made it poss. For combination of listener and broadcaster efforts go smoothly.
The scandal in Hutchinson has not been a great source of talk due to the fact that Live365.com dealt with the issue and not too many heard of the issues involved. The short version of this, is that a lot of stations such as KJAG radio and some others began to start up in Hutchinson Kansas. Live365.com went out and set up an office to make money for the company, however the live folks saw that most if not all of these stations know that these casters have been spending more money than they were making. So they went out and began to charge churches who knew nothing of the net to get their message on the airwaves and basically stealing their money. Once the higher ups knew of this from people letting them in on this detail. Instead of making it a go, the company itself went out and closed the office and fired or re-assigned the people involved.
Live365.com has stood the test of time by re-inventing itself from rates to making changes that other places have not such as Alternacast not making improvements to it's software. They make it so easy so people who are not geeks or former radio people can make a net stream work for them. Then Live365.com dealt with the ASCAP and advertising or lack there of. They have dealt with everything from having offices making money in underhanded means and not letting other places get away with talking smack on them.
