The shocking news came down this afternoon when former Mr. Olympia and recent Arnold Classic competitor Craig Titus was charged along with his wife Kelly Ryan in a murder of their former personal assistant. Now this was shocking to me based upon from what I know about bodybuilding and fitness. Craig is a name guy among the business which is one reason why when he is caught, this will be a major news story. Now what was shocking as well is the whole reason he is wanted for murder.
The news came across MSNBC this afternoon where Kelly Ryan and Craig Titus were wanted for murder of their personal assistant. Now Titus is no stranger to prison, so when he is finally caught. He will be right at home with being behind bars based upon being convicted of conspiring to possess and sell Ecstasy and served a couple of years in prison in the late 1990s after he tested positive for steroids. Titus will be a instant celebrity in prison for his bodybuilding exploits.
What exactly did Titus do to deserve this recent charge is very graphic and gruesome. Apparently the personal assistant was duct taped inside Craig's 2003 Jaguar sports car and then Titus and his wife set the car on fire. Killing the young woman inside the automobile. Now Titus supposedly had an affair one evening before the woman was killed. Titus and his wife had everything to lose with an action such as this and will be doing some hard time for this issue.
The issue here seems to be why would someone of the stature of Titus and his wife do these things. Both were very successful personal trainers in the Las Vegas area and had become modern day icons of there chosen profession of bodybuilding and fitness completions. The issue here must be why would they do this horrid action, the only thing I can think of is they were so infuriated by the young woman's actions of stealing money and the like. However if she was a personal assistant, she signed some sort of contract. You simply fire the person and sue them in a court of law to gain back your damages and also some more money to make up for your trouble. However what they did was way over the line. Finally the issue has to be saw for what it is, this could have been 2 no name people. However this is a celebrity driven story. Plus, Titus is currently on the run from the law. One, a guy that big can not get far plus if he thinks he can hide in Vegas, is going to be a huge task due to the celebrity factor. I hope that this does not end in a bad way, however this has the chance to be a down and dirty struggle and this just sticks another black eye for bodybuilding in general.
