Last week's rant I talked about my situation leading up to treatment and this week I will talk about my time in treatment. I will have to say this, that I had a very good and relaxing time in the hospital. I got to rest up and I got refreshed and I also got to doing some things I had not in a long time. Since October, I had no time to stop and do nothing for a whole day. I got to this for 5 days in a row and it was cool. So this is my journey threw treatment and I hope it gives you some insight on my time away.

Getting into the hospital was a long process after the cops took me to the hospital, I had to wait from 1-4am while they did tests to see if I was medically okay. What a lot of people miss about my situation is, this condition I have is all mental. I am physically fine, actually better than that. I workout 6 days a week for 5-6 hours a day. I am very healthy from power to cardiovascular to even flexibility and my fighting skills are top notch. However then I went from the hospital in Mac to the Hospital in Newton at Prairie View. I had to get checked in and then about 4:30-5am or so, I got to finally sleep. I kept telling people I had to just sleep.

My first day started at 10am, I got to sleep and then I had to go to take physicals and see my doctors. I was offered Breakfast and turned it down cause I had heard the food was bad. I should have took them up on it. I ended up getting on a schedule which helped, I had plenty of people checking on me and chatting with me. I got some good stuff done with going to classes and group sessions. My day ended at 10pm that evening. Within the day I had 2 good meals and a snack and I also got to go to the gym for rec and got to lift weights{which I loved}. I got to participate in some group sessions. Well my first day was hard but I got threw it.

I mentioned the food and the food was cool but at the same time odd. I ate the usual food I eat, However I managed to have almost all of my meals with a huge plate of shredded cheese. I had plates full of Carrots and Brocillie. I had pancakes and brats and hot dogs as well as some other things. I had juices{I made the mistake of having Lemonade which was not shook or mixed well}I only was allowed Orange Juice once per day which pissed me off a little. I also did an odd thing that people thought was odd. I basically got packets of peanut butter and a spoon and had peanut butter.

The group sessions were nice and I had some fun in most of them. They had such groups as creative arts. Which was 1 hr of either doing craft work or you could color with markers or colored pencils. I could draw with shapes or stenislcs. Another one of the groups was rec which the first day I scared the crap out of the health workers cause I went down there and did a quick stretching routine, then I lifted on their weight machine. I also shadowboxed and run laps and wind sprints. Another one of the groups was sharing life experiences, etc. Then one group I participated in was a singing group, basically one of the social workers brought a guitar and we sang songs. There was a group where we tossed balls and objects at each other and had to catch one and then toss one to someone else as well.

People who came and saw me was my wife, Jamie. Dutch's cousin Chris came and saw me one day and cheered me up a lot. My mother came almost everyday to see me and she brought me some pens and paper and also some books and magazines along with several change of clothes. My good friend Kristy Menke and her husband along with her cousin Carrie. They told me about box-a-buddy and I got really cheered up when Jeaves got his ass handed to him by Dennis. Several reasons why this cheered me up but it was because Edwards and Dennis made Jeaves stand in the ring while they sang my praises. Dennis beat down Jeaves after he thought he would be so well prepared with his “training” at the Combat Club.

I met a lot of people while in the hospital from social workers to staff to people that I was in the unit with. I met a guy named KC who was just so smart and really nice and funny. We had a lot of good talks and he is a really good guy. I met this older woman named Nancy, she was the first person to testify in the case of the people who owned the Kaufman house.{http://www.usdoj.gov/opa/pr/2005/November/05_crt_599.html} Nancy was a very brave and cool person. She was so glad to see when I got better enough to leave the hospital on Monday. I also met Debbie who the first day she was in she diagnosed everyone she met, cause she red medical books.{I have a mild case of dwarfism, I am 5'9} I also met a lot of other people including this social worker named Al. He was a very outgoing guy and we had a lot of good talks. Something he told me on his last check in one night, He told me I was a good man. I will keep that with me for the rest of my life. I do want to thank Al for saying that. I hope to keep in touch with Al cause he was a very good guy.

My point here is I got to take a 5 day break and get rested up and knew in life what I wanted. I also discovered that people out here love me and missed me. I also realized that I had a lot of people that I do not know personally but in directly know of me that missed me and inquired about me anyway. I also recommend that if you ever have life issues or something, go see a mental health worker and if you need a break. Go stay at a mental health hospital for awhile and working on you. Work on getting your life together.

Finally, I am back and in the case of getting into the gym, I had 2 good workouts and I am working toward getting back in the ring and making things happen for myself. I am working on getting things going with the radio broadcast. I am getting things going with my schooling and getting my Internship done.{Which will be a column or two} Let's look back on this experience as helpful and I welcome your feedback as well. I will talk to you next week.
