The recent case of Bong hits for Jesus hit the supreme court. I was watching some clips on Fox News' Studio B. They talked to the little punk who had the sign and he used the ol' freedom of speech card. Let's look at the actual story here and then I will tell you about the fact his “freedom of speech” is total bull****. Basically the back story here is that when the Olympic torch came threw this guys hometown, the student Joseph Frederick held up a homemade sign that red, “Bong hits for Jesus”. Now the principal ran across the field where the sign was posted and yanked it down. She then suspended this kid. The kid turns around and sues the teacher and the school over his rights being violated. He held up the sign, come to find out that it was a hope of getting on TV. Like the people who hold up “Sports center's Next” during ball games in a hope to land on the opening for the popular ESPN program. Now its made it all the way to the supreme court and the highest court in the land has to waste it's time hearing the case.
Let's look the issues at hand, we have first off the Phenomenal American Idol hit tv show. We had the William Hung deal. Basically this ornamental kid went to tryout for Idol. He did not make it and it made it on Youtube.com then FUSE TV and some record company's gave him a deal. So basically the next year. Everyone has tried to out do him and then make it onto the big stage. So this year they did 2hrs a night for 3 nights and the first 3-4 weeks were chock full of bad auditions with a lot of people who wanted to be Billy Hung.
Second you have the deal with people on Backyard wrestling, kids go out and try all sorts of crap and beat each other with bats and boards. Trying to make it onto the Pro-wrestling arena of the world. So what happens some of them make it, you have the Hardy boys, Mick Foley and M-Dog20 make it to the big show. Which inspires all the other clowns of the world ****ing around with thumbtacks and glass. Same thing applies for jackass with people stapling their nuts to boards and eating printer ink.
My point on this is that if he was doing it because of his rights or for some other reason. However he knew TV would pick it up and maybe get on Youtube.com or some DJ would talk about it. He could become famous and end up on Letterman or somewhere else. He would become like the star wars kid. I think it is total bull****, cause he says his rights have been violated. Now if you believe this, your a damn jack leg. He wanted to be famous and he wanted to be on TV and he wanted to be the bong hits for jesus kid. He even says that he did it to be on TV, a good lawyer would be working against him and then would use this and nail this punk to the floor.
Finally let's look at this issue, why did this happen? Well this is the example of the culture of me..me..me. Everyone wants to be famous and everyone wants to be on TV. A recent study of youth found that most children wanted to be famous and rich. Not smart and not a good student and not have a family. It was to be famous and rich, the Paris Hilton generation is supposed to pick our leaders. The stoned, gay and stupid of tomorrow, errr youth of today. Yep we are in all good hands, these are the same youth who turned out to vote in droves in 2004. Oh yeah they didn't bother.
