Forgiving is something that the USA is strong at doing and we do it in everything from forgiving political people. The Presidents have done tons of things horrid and get a pass constantly. For instance Dick Nixon, he had Watergate for gods sake. However when he died, people were all about that he was a great human being and did a lot for the world after he got out of power. Then you have Clinton, now I do not care if he got head from a fatty, cause guess what I have, hell I even married one. Ha ha, the material after one of my relationships fall apart. Well Clinton got nailed and now since he has been out, he has done tons of humanity related things. Then you have people in the sports world who have done tons of bad things but can come back, people like Jose Conseco, the media bashed him toward the end of his run in baseball, then he did the roid thing and now everyone loves him because he is bringing light to an issue.
Don Imus is the first one on this list and believe me the list is long and name filled with people who have done tons of crap but get to come back. Imus for years did tons of things and yelled and screamed. Then when some little issue came about of him calling someone a nappy headed ho, he gets shut down on TV and on the radio. Then he took a time away and got paid some of his contract from CBS radio. Now Imus is back on the biggest talk station in NYC and gets numbers like mad and have sell outs every where he goes. Imus first off did not do or say anything that we all do not feel. I have saw tons of black chicks who run their mouths and want men to respect them but they are jamming to R Kelly and Snoop Dog plus they are dating these ballers who give the chicks man jelly and bolt out the door. Well, Imus comes back and comes back bigger than he was when he stepped out of the scene.
Dog The Bounty hunter or as my co-host from the radio an tv side. Cousin Chris calls “Dog” the Swedish chef from the Muppet's. Now Dog goes off and yells and screams the N word like a mo-fo. Then when he gets nailed for it. Dog, then loses his show and lose some of his rep. Now come on like a dude who does the things he does and all. Dog, is not gonna yell the N word at the top of his lungs..Come on, all that people know about this guy and they are shocked. Come on, grandma, I believe I have beach front property in Arizona to sell your ass. Now Dog is back and he has two black guys trying to get his career back on track and is trying to get him back on TV. So let's get this str8, Dog has been off the air and now is back and can just walk in the door.
Let's look at the people who do not get back into the mainstream. “The Grease man” Doug Tract is now off the air. Tract is off the air due to contract talks with his syndicators. Tract is and was a big time shock jock and after he did what Imus did with the Apology tour. Tract then got back on the air and got nailed again. Now Tract is gone again and now he is off the air, how come he did not get some time away and come back with a HUGE deal with CBS radio or someone like Clear Channel? Oh wait, Tract was not Imus and not able to hire the big time spin guys to get him back in.
Another one being Michael Richards, he goes off on some hecklers in the “Comedy Store”. Richards goes on Letterman and gets back on the right track and once the DVDs are out and gets sold. All the people who thought it was such as big deal and wanted him to apologize have dissappered. So know Richards just fades into the woodwork and can go back to being that “Wacky guy” from TV.
My take, why is it that people like Dog and Imus can **** up royally then go back into the scene and make money and make more strides than they had when they got nailed. However certain people can not make the traction back. Why is their a double standard? Why can Imus come back but Grease man can not? Nappy Headed ho is the same as “Shoot 4 more and take the whole week off.” Dog yelling N into the phone and then Richards going off on some hecklers in his comedy skit, those are not equal. How can Dog who looks like a scum bag, to begin with screw around but come back?
Finally let's look at something that is coming up soon, A and E filming the whole skits that Dog had and turning it into a special for prime time due to the writers strike. Oh and coming soon, Don Imus putting out a book on the whole incident that took his radio life from him for awhile. These will be big time pushed and be all over the media, so watch for them kids.
