no they are not free range, they have a nice 8x8 coop, three 12x5 foot runs, i close them up at night so varmints cant' get to them....I feed them laying mash on demand and cracked corn twice a day...To the woman with the lab, i have a boxer and she helps em round them up after i let them in the yard or garden for awhile....she loves to work. A lab is a pretty smart working dog, she could be trained...
