Response to Re: Sleep

Kevin,

It is wonderful to hear of your improved sleep after years of difficulty, and of your happiness in daily life.

Yes, falling asleep during meditation is quite common and is to be welcomed with open arms. This sleep has a different nature from sleep at night, because it is happening during meditation when the metabolism is very slow and when stress is being actively dissolved.

While it is true that we shouldn't try to mix napping and NSR (we start a nap by letting ourselves get drowsy, while we start NSR by resuming an effortless mental activity), if it says anywhere in this forum that we should try not to fall asleep during meditation, this is a mistake.
